Investment Analyst analyzes and researches financial markets, securities, and investment products to assess risks, evaluate potential returns, and make informed investment decisions for an organization. Collects and researches economic data, financial metrics, and market conditions to develop and build financial models, forecasts, and investment strategies. Being an Investment Analyst monitors and analyzes portfolio performance, asset allocation, and risk exposure to ensure alignment with the organization's investment objectives, strategies, and risk tolerance levels. Prepares investment reports and analyses on investment opportunities or strategies to identify trends and recommend actions for the organization. Additionally, Investment Analyst utilizes mathematical formulas and statistical analyses to identify potential or alternative investments and calculate and evaluate financial health, returns, and fair value of securities, assets, or other investments. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Investment Analyst work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project.     About the Team
    The Public Markets Middle Office team is responsible for the management of SWIB’s Public Market investments. With a diverse mix of Equities, Fixed Income & OTC Derivatives, members of the team are exposed to a wide spectrum of products. The primary function of the Middle Office is to provide operational oversight and support to ensure that Investment Managers, Administrators, and other Third-Party service providers are performing their duties appropriately as they relate to SWIB. The Investment Operations Senior Analyst will oversee the trade support functions and serve as an escalation point of contact for the front office.
    Essential activities:
    • Support daily and monthly activity of the investment portfolios including reconciliations, corporate action elections and processing, fee management, valuation, and cash activity.
    • Utilize advanced analytic and research skills to rectify variations in positions, cash, and other key portfolio activity to drive performance and optimize front-office effectiveness.
    • Serve as operational support to the front office and provide direction on complex inquiries.
    • Assist in implementing new investment instruments and strategies.
    • Serve as operational support for organizational strategic initiatives and projects.
    • Oversee and manage external partner relationships, including, but not limited to custodians, bank services, prime brokers, and others. Evaluate and develop service level agreements. Assist in analyzing complex issues and problem resolution with external partners.
    • Support the expansion of the Core & Variable Trust Funds by streamlining processes and developing reporting.
    • Develop procedures and internal control documentation. Identify operational process improvements and recommend solutions to stakeholders.
    • Monitor and stay abreast of the industry and regulatory changes/events impacting trading and collateralization. Assist legal with the execution of agreements and implementation.
    The ideal candidate:
    • Experience working within SimCorp Dimension (preferred)
    • Large scale project implementation experience
    • Experience with pricing and valuation-related workflows
    • Thorough knowledge of corporate action processing, domestically and internationally
    • Have in-depth knowledge of vendor systems such as Bloomberg, Charles River, or equivalent investment industry providers.
    • Advanced analytic and problem-solving skills
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Knowledge of public market and multi-asset language and products
    • Bachelor’s Degree in business, finance, economics, or equivalent experience
    • 5-10 years of experience in finance, accounting, or related industry strongly preferred
    • Ability to be adaptive and thrive in a fast-paced, changing environment
    • Superb work ethic, attention to detail, team orientation, and commitment to excellence

    The position requires U.S. work authorization. Pursuant to our Hybrid Remote Work Policy, all staff have the flexibility to work remotely, but are required to have a weekly presence in our offices, the frequency of which is dependent on their distance from office. Staff are not required to reside locally, however we offer relocation reimbursement to the Dane County area per our policy.
