Analyzes investment opportunities and recommends investments as appropriate. Being an Investment Analyst may help to evaluate stock investment and major projects for high-level analysis. Requires a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Investment Analyst typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Investment Analyst contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project.     State Fund’s Investment Unit has a vacancy for an Investment Analyst to join our team of experienced analysts to manage, monitor and provide analysis of equity and alternative asset classes. If you have transferable experience, we want to hear from you!

    Office locations may be in Vacaville, Pleasanton or San Francisco

    Under the general direction of the VP of Investments, Investment Analyst will work closely with the Senior Investment Officer (lead) to:

    • Execute and implement new investment strategies
    • Monitor investments across equity and alternative asset classes, with a focus on public equities, private equity, infrastructure, and real estate
    • Conduct due diligence analysis to determine suitable investment strategies and make recommendations
    • Monitor investment performance/risk/activity
    • Conduct complex research on a wide variety of evolving strategic investment topics
    • Handle ad hoc projects, presentations and reports
    • Support the investment portfolio operations
    • Complete accounting and financial analysis and review of investments to comply with accounting requirements and investment guidelines

    Telework may be available and is subject to change based on State Fund guidelines and business needs however, this position may require occasional in-office meetings due to the nature of the job, despite telework potential.

    Desired Qualifications:

    The most successful candidate will have the following skills and abilities:

    • Possession or working toward a Chartered Financial Analysis designation, MBA, or MS in Finance.
    • Knowledge of investment principles and practices, investment types and markets
    • Advanced knowledge of statistical and mathematical methods, used for investment analysis, due diligence and modeling
    • Analyze situations accurately making sound decisions on the value and suitability of investments research and analyze complex issues with excellent attention to detail
    • Knowledge of investment platforms specific to covered asset classes
