POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Product Portfolio Manager will lead and manage our product portfolio, driving innovation, strategy, business development, and driving strategic initiatives for growth across all sales channels. This role is a strategic linchpin, bridging our organizational strategy and product execution, working across functions to align resources in support of product development.
The Product Portfolio Manager should be an enthusiast of customer-focused product management strategies and standards. They will have patience, determination, excellent communication skills, ability to work independently and in a team environment, practice good judgment, possess and demonstrate business acumen and sound analytical skills. The PPM role is a very high-profile, high engagement, highly accountable position that will directly impact the growth trajectory of Tarter Farm and Ranch.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Using data, input from Sales, collaborating with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Procurement to develop a portfolio strategy to drive optimization across our SKUs and product categories.
· Strong understanding of the competitive landscape, market demands, industry trends, and vertical alignment to evaluate and make informed decisions in selecting the right product mix for the portfolio.
· Partner with Sales and Engineering leaders to build a product roadmap, managing communication and progress across status, risks, etc.
· Leader in analyzing portfolio gaps, to ensure our current and future product mix is balanced between innovation, maintenance, and growth initiatives, all in support of the company’s goals and customer experience.
· Partnering with cross-functional teams to ensure each product gets the necessary resources and support to succeed. Including but not limited to: Sales, Marketing, Training, Engineering, Operations, etc.
· Track critical success factors and identify business value across the product portfolio using a standard method for prioritization and value recognition throughout the product lifecycle.
· Proactively identify key issues and risks associated with product development processes to minimize setbacks and reduction of waste, driving efficiency and speed to action.
· Manages product portfolio performance, considering financial metrics, return on investment and strategic alignment across critical milestones.
· Creates, manages and prepares product performance reports to share in a regular cadence with senior stakeholders within the business.
· Will serve on Tarter's Sponsorship committee, working alongside Marketing to develop and execute the larger strategic plan on partnerships and product marketing opportunities.
ACCOUNTABILITIES AND PERFORMANCE MEASURES:
· Ensure the product portfolio is consistently aligned and in support of the company’s long-term strategic objectives/goals.
· Increase revenue and profitability through portfolio management, new product innovation and product lifecycle management.
· Improved resource utilization, SKU optimization and rationalization.
ORGANINZATIONAL ALIGNMENT:
· Regularly review and report on product roadmaps and progress of product development and initiatives.
· This person serves on the Commercial team and will be responsible for creating the product roadmap(s) and will work closely with the Product Engineering Manager to ensure execution through our NPI (New Product Introduction) committee.
· Enlists the support of sales specialists, implementation resources, service resources, and other sales, management and production resources as needed.
· Closely coordinates company executive involvement as well as supports customer management with respective sales individuals and teams.
· Works closely with Sales, Marketing and Supply Chain/Operations to ensure alignment.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· Experience in field / related field, and/or a combination of education and experience. Minimum of 5 years of sales, market development, portfolio management experience.
· Strong working knowledge of cattle handling and management practices, animal husbandry, tractors, Implements and attachments and all other Tarter product categories.
· Proven track record of developing product strategies and effectively communicating recommendations to executive management.
· Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to use data to tell a compelling story to various internal stakeholders.
· Strong project management expertise, with the ability to identify, communicate, and mitigate risks along the way.
· Experience driving strategy, operational excellence, and process improvements across multiple collaborator groups.
· Previous experience participating in a cross-functional team, working to translate customer needs into product solutions.
· Expert with data analytics and BI tools (Tableau, Power BI, etc.)
· Superb interpersonal, communication, business analytics, and collaboration skills.
· Knowledge of the agricultural, large-retail ag chain and equipment markets.
· Due to potential international travel, passport required.
TRAVEL:
· Projected minimum 25% travel. This position will be North America based and can be remote for the right candidate.
