How you’ll contribute The Investor Relations Manager works under the guidance of the Head of Investor Relations and alongside the other Investor Relations team members to act as a liaison between the company and the public on financial matters. In this roll you will be responsible for activities in five key areas: 1) communications collateral development; 2) interactions with the sell-side analyst community; 3) interacting with investors and potential investors; 4) communicating internally with employees, management, senior executives, and the board of directors; and 5) supporting the department's initiatives regarding investor and media communications including Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG), Corporate and Social Responsibility (CSR), Public Benefit Corporation (PBC) and other related organizational transparency efforts. COLLATERAL DEVELOPMENT * Prepare and improve upon existing communications materials such as press releases, the corporate presentation, FAQ documents, product and pipeline factsheets, and earnings presentations * Maintain, update, and improve the investor relations website (ir.unither.and pipeline website (pipeline.unither.com) * Support the development of social media content to support investor and public relations activities * Strategize with the investor relations team and executives to prepare and develop new industry-leading investor communications materials SELL-SIDE ANALYST COMMUNITY * Grow into the primary point of contact for new and existing sell-side analysts covering United Therapeutics and other biotech companies * Collect and curate sell-side analyst models, providing consensus financial data to management and external stakeholders * Monitor company-specific and industry-wide sell-side research including scientific content and track/provide updates on changes to peer performance * Strategize with the investor relations team and executives to implement an industry-leading sell-side outreach program and benchmark the program to peer activities INVESTMENT COMMUNITY * Help develop and support an active investor relations calendar including planning, logistics, and execution of investor conferences, investor events, non-deal roadshows, and other communication events * Assist with calendaring investor calls/meetings and provide support for and participate in meetings with institutional investors * Work with external vendors and the IR team to target new institutional investors * Over time, develop and implement a retail investor outreach strategy to attract, retain, and serve retail (individual) investors * Strategize with the investor relations team and executives to implement an industry-leading institutional investor outreach program and benchmark the program to peer activities INTERNAL INTERACTIONS * Prepare background information for key internal spokespeople in advance of meetings with investors, media, and other external stakeholders * Provide rapid color and intelligence to management and executives on industry/competitor newsflow * Liaise with key subject matter experts within the company to understand key activities worthy of disclosure to external stakeholders * Communicate color from investor meetings for management and executives * Maintain and update the Investor Relations Monthly Report distributed to senior executives and the board of directors * Track UTHR stock performance and valuation relative to peers DEPARTMENTAL INITIATIVES * Prepare the IR team for investor, analyst, and internal meetings * Maintain the investor relations customer relationship management (CRM) tool * Manage the development and implementation of external corporate communication strategies that are consistent with current business goals and objectives following strong collaboration with company stakeholders * Evaluate current processes within the Investor Relations department and make recommendations for improvements, benchmarking IR activities against those of our current and aspirational peers * Manage third-party service vendors and associated budget recordkeeping * Other duties as assigned to support the Investor Relations department All other duties as assigned For this role you will need Minimum Requirements A Bachelor’s Degree and 8 years of relevant experience, including 5 years in capital markets, investor relations, communications, or securities analysis OR A Master’s Degree and 6 years of relevant experience, including 3 years in capital markets, investor relations, communications, or securities analysis OR A Ph.D. and 2 years of relevant experience, including 1 years in capital markets, investor relations, communications, or securities analysis Solid understanding of financial modeling techniques used by securities analysts to project a company's operating and financial performance and the resulting value for its stock Strong interpersonal skills, relevant business expertise, and ability to communicate using these qualities and skills Strong executive presence and experience in partnering with executive leaders is required Ability to receive and grow from instant feedback and constructive criticism An energetic, efficient, and resourceful team player and individual contributor with an insatiable appetite to learn more Ability to work on tight deadlines with incomplete or ambiguous information Ability to persuade others and influence without authority Ability to travel up to 40% Preferred Qualifications Direct sell side experience, or direct experience in operational roles within a Biotechnology company Masters or PhD Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) While United Therapeutics does not require vaccination for Covid-19 at this time, we strongly encourage all employees and visitors to remain up to date on vaccinations and boosters to protect one another from illness.
