    Position Description

    The Beverage Developer I will be at the forefront of creating beverage products. This role places a significant emphasis on technical skills, formulation expertise, and project tracking management. The ideal candidate is someone who can seamlessly blend creativity with precision, ensuring that projects are executed efficiently from concept to launch.  Plans and performs research activities with the goal of developing new or improved beverage products or beverage production processes.

     Responsibilities:

    • Technical Formulation: Be proficient in all Beverage Technologist responsibilities and competencies. Utilize in-depth technical knowledge to formulate and optimize beverage recipes, considering factors such as ingredient functionality, stability, and sensory attributes.
    • Risk Assessment & Research: Plans and conducts research activities that evaluate new or revised products, ingredients, or formulations for taste, shelf-life stability, or nutritional profile. Gathers, processes, and analyzes results and data. Assesses production processes and makes recommendations for improvements that are meant to reduce waste or cost, or increase quality or profitability.
    • Technical Documentation: Maintain detailed technical documentation, including formulation records, specifications, and procedures. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
    • Project Tracking Management: Develop and implement effective project tracking systems to monitor and manage the progress of beverage product development projects. Efficiently and consistently maintain traceability on revisions and creations throughout the development process with thoroughly detailed information included on formula documentation.
    • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with R&D, Production, Quality Assurance, Regulatory, suppliers, Sales, Commercialization and Commercial Strategy teams to ensure seamless communication and alignment on technical requirements throughout the product development process. Participate effectively in internal and external calls. Participate in Customer visits and effectively present concepts/products to clients. Interact with suppliers to represent department needs.
    • Customer Collaboration: Under guidance of manager, work directly with customers to ensure successful development of desired product when determined beneficial by Sales.
    • Resource Management: Manage technical resources efficiently, including ingredients, equipment, and laboratory facilities. Optimize resource allocation for maximum efficiency.

      Education and Experience:

      • Bachelor's or advanced degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, or a related technical field.
      • Experience in beverage product development with a strong emphasis on technical formulation and project tracking management with a keen eye for detail.
      • Expertise in laboratory techniques, sensory evaluation, and analytical methods related to beverage development.
      • Familiarity with regulatory requirements in the food and beverage industry.
      • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional teams.
      • Minimum 5 years experience or minimum 4 years experience in product development with advanced degree in Science.

      Position-specific skills:

      • Competent in all responsibilities included in the role of Beverage Technologist II.
      • Stays current on technological and scientific developments.
      • Ability to prepare and present technical project information, both internally and to external customers.
      • Mentors Technologists, Lab Technicians, Interns, and others - assist with questions, provide guidance/feedback, etc.
      • Demonstrates strong sensory capabilities for matching and creation projects. Participates in sensory panel.
