    Category/Level:  PSS/6

    Basic Function:  Responsible for planning and maintaining Continuing Education non-Health classes for both professional and personal development, with a primary focus on the development of Short-Term Certificates and developing/maintaining pathways to credit courses. The position works closely with other program team members, the Operations Team, and the credit faculty/staff in developing, scheduling, and implementing current offerings and new initiatives. The Program Developer is involved with program management including needs-assessments, administration of program areas, program analysis/selection, analysis of trends and research, new program development, and the procurement and management of continuing education instructors.

    Salary & Benefits: Salary of $52,500 - $63,000 based on experience. Benefits package includes Blue Cross/Blue Shield health insurance; eye care, dental, life and disability insurance; paid vacation and sick leave; a choice of IPERS or TIAA retirement plans; and a variety of additional optional benefits. 

    Qualifications:  Baccalaureate degree plus 3-5 years of successful full-time experience in an educational or business setting with experience in training, instructional design or program management and development.  Must possess the ability to communicate comfortably and effectively with business people and adult students.  Ability to work independently, accept responsibility with limited supervision, manage multiple tasks to completion, and work with frequent interruptions. Be self-motivated, energetic, and creative with strong personal computer skills and proven success working within a team-based environment.


    Responsibilities: 
    - Administer and schedule continuing education training programs for appropriate occupational fields, industries, and subject areas as assigned. Including, but not limited to: open enrollment, contract training, and short-term certifications.
    - Assess local and regional educational needs.
    - Utilize LERN tools, benchmarks, and formulas to market program offerings, determine pricing, evaluate current offerings including enrollment trends and cancellation rates, and develop new courses/programs.
    - Successfully complete and maintain LERN's Certified Program Planner credential or related program planning credential.
    - Monitor and analyze budget revenue projections and program expenses; maintain appropriate operating margins and other benchmarks in support of Continuing Education Department and NIACC Strategic Plans.
    - Maintain continuing client and student relationships by providing quality customer service.
    - Responsible for recruitment of and management of Continuing Education instructors, including but not limited to, orientation, induction, and staff development.
    - Development of online, hybrid, and face-to-face course offerings.
    - Organize advisory committees, as needed to provide course ideas and guidance.
    - Support, train, and serve industries with Iowa Code 260E, 260F, 260G and other state funding sources for eligible businesses. Assist with developing 260G agreements.
    - Maintain a strong working relationship with the NIACC staff and faculty to support and enhance offerings.
    - Provide excellent customer service, communication and promotional skills. Possess strong organization skills and ability to pay attention to detail.
    - Serve as member of divisional and institutional committees and participate in professional organizations and college committees.
