Jig and Fixture Builder assembles a variety of standard and non-standard major jigs, fixtures and related tooling. Ensures jigs function appropriately with complex angles or contours. Being a Jig and Fixture Builder is responsible for determining methods and sequence of operations and scheduling work to be performed from tool design drawings. Designs and creates jig and fixture details and holding devices. Additionally, Jig and Fixture Builder may be required to verify accuracy and quality in accordance with established control procedures. Requires a high school diploma in a related area with certification in the field. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Jig and Fixture Builder works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job.     Monarch Manufacturing, Inc.’s Assembly Department’s Builders are responsible for taking our carefully cut out cabinet pieces and assembling them into the cabinets they were always meant to be. It is because of their attention to detail that enables our cabinets to be the perfect fit in our customers’ homes.

     

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    There are no supervisory responsibilities for this position.

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB DUTIES:

    • Use various hand tools (glue guns, screw guns, drills, wood routers, wood welder, etc.)
    • Use hand sanders.
    • Use various saws (table saw, chop saw, etc.)
    • Read and comprehend order paperwork, blueprints, and diagrams.
    • Dedication to keeping a clean and well stocked working environment.
    • Cross-train in other areas during department downtime.
    • Complete other duties as assigned.
    • Assessing the accuracy, neatness, consistency, and thoroughness of the work assigned.

     

    COMPETENCIES/SKILLS:

    • Carpentry skills.
    • Measuring skills on a tape measure to nearest 1/16th of an inch.
    • Basic mathematical understanding.
    • Listening and communication skills.
    • Punctuality.
    • Teamwork.

     

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

    Prior woodworking or cabinetry experience is preferred but not required.

     

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    • Ascending or descending ladders and stepstools on occasion.
    • Move self into different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments constantly.
    • Remain constantly standing in a stationary position for prolonged periods of time.
    • Moving about accomplishing tasks or moving from one workstation to another constantly.
    • Adjusting or moving objects of varying weights in all directions.
      • Constant movement of objects up to 50 pounds.
      • Occasional movement of objects up to 100 pounds or more with assistance.
    • Constant repeated motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
    • Constant operation of machinery and/or power tools as assigned.


    ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

    • Occasional exposure to high temperatures during summer months.
    • Constant exposure to noisy environments.
    • Exposure to airborne particles, specifically sawdust.


    JOB LOCATION:

    Sullivan, Illinois.

     

    PAY SCALE:

    $16.00 to $20.00 an hour. This is based on experience with the potential to increase at 30/90-day performance reviews.

     

    WORK SCHEDULE:

    Monday through Friday, 6:00AM to 4:00PM. (47.5 hours a week).
