Jig and Fixture Builder assembles a variety of standard and non-standard major jigs, fixtures and related tooling. Ensures jigs function appropriately with complex angles or contours. Being a Jig and Fixture Builder is responsible for determining methods and sequence of operations and scheduling work to be performed from tool design drawings. Designs and creates jig and fixture details and holding devices. Additionally, Jig and Fixture Builder may be required to verify accuracy and quality in accordance with established control procedures. Requires a high school diploma in a related area with certification in the field. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Jig and Fixture Builder works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job. Position Summary
Builds, positions, and dismantles wooden structures, such as concrete forms, scaffolds, tunnel, and sewer supports, and temporary frame shelters, according to sketches, blueprints, or company standards.
Primary Responsibilities
- Transport tubular scaffold to the site and erect the scaffold to the dimensions required
- Hammer material to each locking section
- Hoist scaffold board to the top section to be used as a working platform and level all sections
- Cut plywood to fit and nail to platform area
- Secure scaffold to the structure
- Erects scaffolding for buildings and other structures and installs ladders, handrails,
- walkways, platforms, and gangways
- May rig materials
- Additional responsibilities not listed may be required
Qualifications
· Minimum 4 years industrial construction/maintenance industry experience
· General knowledge of OSHA, site, and JEMCI requirements
· Knowledge of standards for acceptable scaffold erection
