Join us on an extraordinary journey at OrnamentallyYou, where innovation meets opportunity in the heart of a fast-growing startup! We're looking for a Dynamic Operations Leader to steer our warehouse and operations with vision, drive, and a pioneering spirit!
Who We Are:
I'm Mike, founder of OrnamentallyYou, where exquisite home decor and unparalleled creativity merge to transform living spaces into realms of artistry and inspiration. I started this journey a few years ago with a passion for turning every home into a showcase of personal expression and individuality. From festive holiday ornaments to an eclectic mix of artisan-crafted decor, our company is a canvas for those who value uniqueness. We've experienced rapid growth, boasting over 200% year-over-year expansion, and I'm proud to announce that this September, you'll find us in Inc Magazine’s issue celebrating the Inc 5000 fastest-growing private companies in the U.S. To me we've just scratched the surface and there's much more potential to . We remain a scrappy, bootstrapped startup and I want to bring someone on who can be a high level partner with me in this journey!
Overview:
In the midst of unprecedented growth, we’re searching for a Warehouse and Operations Manager who will be the stabilizing force behind our logistical operations. Your primary mission is to ensure that our warehouse operates seamlessly, fostering an environment where efficiency and productivity thrive. Additionally, you will help me work on the business, instead of just in the business. I care more that you have the ability and motivation to learn new things and face new challenges. It's not a boring old warehouse job, because as a company leader you help build new systems, we'll talk software/tactics/team and strategies.
In early stages of this role you will be responsible for keeping the rocket ship steady in our blossoming startup by making sure that warehouse workers are trained, performing their tasks.
What You'll Do:
- AUTONOMY: I should mention this first- this is not a position where i'm going to look over you. I want you to understand every aspect of the company of course, but I want you to have full authority to make big time decisions. I want this to be the best experience in your lifetime, and I want it to result in a major success for the company.
- **Warehouse Mastery**: Oversee an organized, efficient warehouse optimized for scalability.
- **Team Leadership**: Direct onboarding, mentor team members, and potentially hire assistant managers.
- **Communication**: Communicate in writing often with our virtual staff by utilizing our company chat software, Slack. In one phrase, you are the bridge between online and offline.
- **Systems Development**: Transition from an oral tradition of knowledge-sharing to established, scalable systems. We use software like Notion to build SOPs
- **Supply Management**: Handle the procurement of essential warehouse supplies, readying us for growth spurts.
- **Versatility**: Embrace and navigate the exhilarating challenges of a rapidly expanding business.
Ideal Qualities:
- Fluency in English with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- A record of hard work, endurance, and the ability to stay the course.
- A fast learner, ready to adapt to a wealth of new tasks and systems.
- Leadership prowess, able to guide with encouragement and honesty.
- Extreme proficiency with the internet ; if you’ve had experience with systems and softwares then that’s a huge plus (we use programs such as Shopify, Notion, Slack, Photoshop, Shipstation, etc)
- Adept with technology, experienced in systems, and software adeptness is a strong advantage.
- Physical fitness to meet warehouse demands energetically.
- Comfort with autonomy. As i've implied, you will help us build these systems, not come in and follow a protocol from A-Z. You're a leader, and an essential piece to our success.
- Honesty. Everyone says it. No, I mean brutal honesty. Your voice will be valued and you will make a huge impact on the future trajectory of this company! If something is wrong, I expect you to say it and then we find a way to fix it.
Requirements:
- A dedication to at least 40 hours per week.
- Availability on crucial shopping days and the lead-up to the holiday season.
- Willingness to work any given day during our peak season, October to December, as we bring a year's worth of preparation to life.
- Motivated to deal with pressure, as during the last 6-8 weeks of the year are very intense and extraordinary. It's a war, not a cruise, and you have to be battle ready.
- To piggyback on the above, the ability to make quick but informed decisions, and many of them
- Delegation: as mentioned earlier you will delegate many roles to others as things get very busy and hard for one person to do.
Location:
Hooray - we have just leased a new space in Oakland.
Aspirational Benefits:
This is more than a job; it's a journey toward personal and professional landmarks. Here, you'll have the chance to step into significant leadership roles and make a substantial impact on our company's trajectory. As we soar to new heights, we invite you to climb with us. More than jus the job itself, the most important role you'll have as we grow larger is to help us build the team. We have to set the foundation straight. I've fought to get this far, and I continue to fight for the company and my team. It's us against them. By the way, if you have gotten this far reading the job description please write "Christmas" on your application. This is the best way to weed spammers out. Thanks!
Compensation:
We’re proud to offer a salary that grows with our company, guaranteeing annual increases, with bonuses acknowledging your commitment through our busiest season. If you're in it for short term gain and money, this is not the right position for you. We are in no way in a position to offer competitive salaries with large companies like Amazon. But unlike those short term opportunities, with us, you have major potential for long term gain in the form of an upwards trajectory that far exceeds what you would find in most other places.
Ready to join a company where your work is celebrated, and your growth is assured? Apply to be a part of the OrnamentallyYou family, and let's build a future as remarkable as our decor.
Your potential is our passion. We look forward to welcoming you aboard. Apply now and let's flourish together!
Yours Truly,
Mike M.
