    Job Description

    A Day in the Life:

    PRT is currently recruiting a seasonal Quality Control Specialist to be based out of Cottage Grove, OR at PRT Cottage Grove.  The Quality Control Specialist will assist with quality control and data collection for our upcoming harvest of tree seedlings for reforestation across North America. This engaging, high paced, physical position offers a safe work environment and an opportunity for a career that will make a positive change in the world. Candidates should have a desire and keenness to learn about the seed orchard activities, work independently and efficiently. No experience required; full training will be provided. Majority of the work will be done in the green houses and outdoors with exposure to temperature extremes at times. Candidates may be interviewed and tested to assess their skill, ability, competence, and efficiency for this position.

    Key accountabilities of the Quality Control Specialist are:

    • Keep neat and accurate records including computerized record keeping systems
    • Operate computerized and other control systems
    • Maintain sanitization chemicals for block sanitization
    • Monitor the integrity of the blocks and sort out bad blocks
    • Provide constructive feedback to nursery workers regarding the quality of their work
    • Measure tree height and root RCD to ensure PRT provides the best possible quality to our customers.
    • Promote collaboration and teamwork at all levels
    • Set targets (i.e., production, timelines) and evaluate achievement

    About the team:

    The person filling the Quality Control Specialist position will work alongside other nursery workers under the supervision of the Nursery Lead and report to the Nursery Manager.  This position is situated in the breathtaking Pacific Northwest. This beautiful location offers activities and magnificent scenery all year long!

    Required/ Minimum Qualifications & Skills:

    • Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation
    • Bilingual (Spanish & English)
    • Appropriate work attire
    • Good manual dexterity and eyesight
    • Team-oriented personality with a positive attitude
    • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
    • Strong and professional communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
    • Great organizational and record keeping skills
    • Ability to stand for lengthy periods of time and perform repetitive tasks
    • Ability to lift and carry up to 25lbs
    • Commitment to quality and safety

    Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

    • Bilingual: Spanish/English would be preferred but not required
