Job Developer supports social services clients in job searching and placement. Establishes and maintains working relationships with employers, industry organizations, and public agencies to source job openings and secure employment and vocational training opportunities for clients. Being a Job Developer evaluates individual's background, skills, and interest and matches to potential job openings or training programs. Coaches and prepares candidate for interview and entry into the workforce. Additionally, Job Developer may require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Job Developer occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. The Job Developer will assist refugee and program eligible clients in overcoming barriers to employment or upgrades within their current jobs.
Assist clients with the completion of employment applications and resumes. Help clients prepare for job interviews. Advocate for clients with perspective employers. Monitor client performance on the job and counsel client when job performance is not satisfactory. Initiate and maintain ongoing contact with a variety of business and industry representatives and job placement/training agencies to promote programs for participant placement. Make cold calls to potential employers. Keep updated regarding job fairs and Internet resources. Participate in outreach and recruitment activities by coordinating and attending job fairs. Prepares forms and reports related to placement activities. Attend bi-weekly meetings with other refugee employment service workers.
Follow Department of Welfare rules and regulations for the employment services program.
The physical demands described here are representative of these that must be met by employees to successfully perform the essential job functions of this position. In compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, reasonable accommodations will be considered. Use of hands, wrists and fingers and lifting or moving up to 25 lbs will be required. Movements such as stooping, crouching, bending, kneeling, and reaching are required. This position requires spending a majority of the workday standing and walking, with occasional sitting. The location of the program requires the ability to climb stairs on a frequent basis during a shift. Noise and/or level of distractions in the work environment is moderate.
Job Developer usually work first shift. Work may include working on Saturdays to provide additional support to our clients.
High School Diploma required. Bilingual skills in a common client language are preferred.
