Kitchen Manager manages the daily operations of the kitchen, which may include but not limited to: accounting, finance, staff working schedule, inventory control and equipment supplies. Responsible for employees' training. Being a Kitchen Manager oversees other departments that contribute to the operations of the kitchen. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Additionally, Kitchen Manager typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Kitchen Manager supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. Thorough knowledge of department processes. To be a Kitchen Manager typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Responsibilities:
- Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to customers
- Take customer orders and provide recommendations based on their preferences
- Maintain a clean and organized bar area
- Check identification to ensure customers are of legal drinking age
- Handle cash transactions and manage bar budget
- Monitor customer and staff behavior and intervene as necessary to maintain a safe and enjoyable environment
- Take lead on drink menu development and alcohol offerings
Experience:
- Previous experience working as a bartender in a restaurant or similar establishment is required
- Knowledge of basic math skills, including the ability to accurately calculate drink prices, handle cash, and make change
- Familiarity with brewing/ distilling techniques and different types of alcoholic beverages
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent customer service, leadership skills and the ability to communicate effectively with customers and employees
