    Description

    Position Summary

     

    The Security Supervisor is responsible for overseeing activities of security operations, which provides safety and protection of all patrons, employees and company assets, while promoting excellence in customer service. The Security Supervisor will work hours appropriate to meet the needs of the business, which may include nights, weekends and holidays.

     

    Essential Functions of the Position

    • Acts as a proper role model to reinforce productive and customer oriented behavior.
    • Maintain a pleasant and professional attitude.
    • Enforce rules and regulations as outlined in approved policy & procedure and internal control manuals.
    • Circulates regularly throughout the casino and promptly responds to incidents.
    • Encourages staff development through guidance, motivation, training and coaching techniques.
    • Performs shift change with oncoming supervisor(s), assigns daily and/or weekly shift- assignments, schedules, lunch breaks, and performs other administrative duties as assigned.
    • Clearly defines shift expectations through typed, written and oral communication(s).
    • Report orally, in written and/or electronic format all violations of rules, policy and other incidents deemed necessary to document.
    • Secures premises and personnel by patrolling property, inspecting buildings, equipment and access points.
    • Assist in the development of practical and effective solutions to problems and seeks opportunity for better methods of service delivery.
    • Assists with promoting safe and non-hazardous working conditions.
    • Takes appropriate action as needed in the event of an emergency, to handle safety and security situations effectively and professionally.
    • Maintain compliance within all rules and regulations and completes all necessary reports, forms, logs and or other required documents.
    • Participates in updated job knowledge by attending security, safety, casino and/or other training(s) deemed necessary by casino management.
    • Establish and maintain an effective working relationship with management, staff and co-workers
    • Maintains a high level of confidentiality
    • Other duties as assigned or requested by management

    Qualifications


    Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    • Knowledgeable of Federal/State/Tribal Employment laws and regulations.
    • Knowledge of the operation of a variety of computer software, including word processing, and spreadsheet applications.
    • Excellent interpersonal, communication, facilitation, conflict and mediation skills.
    • Ability to research, collect data and present reports.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization.
    • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously; skill in working in an environment subject to constant interruptions and quickly changing priorities; ability to prioritize.
    • Ability to comprehend and explain applicable policies, procedures, laws, codes and regulations.
    • Ability to function in a professional manner during high stress situations.
    • Ability to train, instruct and supervise a variety of employees at all levels.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to maintain effective working relationships with staff, vendors, Board members, and the public, both in person and through phone, e-mail and written correspondence.
    • Ability to learn quickly, self-leader with initiative, highly flexible and comfortable in a constantly changing environment.
    • Ability to work any shift(s), start time, weekends and holidays.

    Supervisory Controls

    • Security Shift Supervisor is under the direct supervision of the Security Operations Supervisor.
    • Security Management assigns work on information regarding objectives, priorities and deadlines.
    • The Security Shift Supervisor conducts all tasks and business according to written and/or oral instruction, established policies and approved methods of operations.

     

    Physical Demands

    • As necessary, this position may be subject to various outside weather conditions such as: Extreme hot and / or cold environments, rain, sleet, snow and other general climate conditions within the specified region.
    • Occasional bending, climbing, stooping, and prolonged periods of sitting and/or standing as necessary.
    • Ability to lift and/or or move up to 50 pounds.

     

    Work Environment

    • Indoor/Outdoor; exposure to external environmental conditions possible.
    • Exposure to smoking and secondhand smoke.
    • Noise level can range from minimal to intense.

     

    Minimum Qualifications

    • High school diploma (or equivalent combination of education and experience combined).
    • Two (2) years casino security or law enforcement experience preferred.
    • Must be 18 years of age or older.
    • CLEET Certification may be required.
    • Must possess a valid drivers license.
    • Must be able to pass a background check and obtain a key gaming license.
