Reporting directly to the IT Chief Information Officer, the Director of Strategic Investments is responsible for providing daily operational oversight and executive leadership for the IT Strategic Investments Office (SIO). The IT Strategic Investments Office is responsible for the successful implementation of the agency s most complex, high-risk and highest priority IT projects and investments by planning for, developing, and assigning appropriate IT resources. This position is responsible for multiple technology functions within the IT Division: IT Project Management, IT Contracts and Vendor Management, IT Strategic & Tactical Planning, IT Testing Services, and the IT Agile Coaching Practice.
This position requires advanced IT management skills to ensure overall operational integrity of the Department s core mission to Keep Washington Safe and Working. As we move away from aging technology, strategic thinking will be required regarding future investments and the larger IT Strategic Plan. The implementation and ongoing maintenance of the IT strategic plan is critical to ensure technology innovation. In the regular performance of this position, the incumbent will directly interact and advise Executive Leadership of the agency on the execution of technology investments. The incumbent will also ensure a comprehensive and thoughtful approach among IT leaders. This position collaborates enterprise-wide with all agency divisions, groups, other agencies, and vendors to oversee the IT project delivery lifecycle.
