Laboratory Assistant performs research activities in a laboratory environment to aid in the planning, designing, and conducting of experiments. Collects, prepares, and tests samples and records measurements or observations. Being a Laboratory Assistant prepares reports detailing results and conclusions, applications, and methodology. Conducts routine maintenance and safety checks on lab equipment to ensure working order. Additionally, Laboratory Assistant assists with receipt and inspection of raw materials and the ordering and stocking of materials and equipment. May be responsible for cleaning, disinfecting, and maintaining cleanrooms and equipment. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Laboratory Assistant work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. To be a Laboratory Assistant typically requires 0-2 years of related experience. Job description
The American Dermatopathology Laboratory is a private medical lab specialized in processing and interpreting skin biopsies from patients with skin rashes and tumors. Open position for a lab technician (histotechnician). Part-time or full-time, Monday to Friday. Weekends off.
Local Sinclair Community College or Wright State University Biology, Chemistry or Lab science students are encouraged to apply. We will work with your schedules to accommodate classes. This provides a steady income for anyone interested.
Both an entry level candidate (with no previous work in this field) and a certified or eligible for certification histotechnician will be considered. We will train the right candidate even if that person has no experience as a histotechnician.

· Education requirements are as follows if to be trained in-house:
At least 60 semester college/university credit hours to include a minimum of 24 semester credits in ONE of the following:
- Medical lab technology OR
- Biology and Chemistry distributed as follows (six credits in biology,
six credits in chemistry and 12 credits in any combination of
chemistry/biology). OR 2-year associate degree or bachelor’s degree
in biology, chemistry, or lab science/technology.
