Summary: Lab assistants are responsible for collecting blood from patients and donors, identifying and labeling all drawn blood accurately for tests, and/or blood donations.  Accurately collecting and recording patient and donor information, monitoring patients through procedures, and storing samples as required.  This position requires knowledge in the care of patients served as indicated: 

Education: High school diploma or GED required. 

Experience: Prior experience is desirable but not required; on the job training.

Requirements:

• Must demonstrate a willingness to learn and be teachable.
• Must be able to read, write, and have computer knowledge proficiently. 
• Must be able to communicate effectively with all hospital personnel and present a courteous and professional manner to the public.
• Must pass a drug screen.

 Physical Effort: Walking, bending, using stairs. Working with bio-hazardous material. Wearing protective equipment as required by OSHA.
