Conducts routine maintenance and safety checks on lab equipment to ensure working order. Additionally, Laboratory Assistant assists with receipt and inspection of raw materials and the ordering and stocking of materials and equipment. May be responsible for cleaning, disinfecting, and maintaining cleanrooms and equipment. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Laboratory Assistant work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. To be a Laboratory Assistant typically requires 0-2 years of related experience. About Us:
ProHealth Care offers a system-wide laboratory operation with core hospital labs at Waukesha Memorial and Oconomowoc Memorial as well as two clinic-based laboratory sites in Waukesha County. The laboratory performs over 8 million tests annually.
Our Lab services operate state of the art facilities and include clinical testing in the areas of Histology, Cytology, Hematology, Coagulation, Clinical Chemistry, Urinalysis, Immunoassay, Microbiology, Transfusion service, EIA, and Molecular Biology. ProHealth Care offers a vibrant outreach program, providing laboratory testing to numerous specialty hospitals, physician offices, nursing home, and assisted living facilities. Our Pathologists and PhDs work closely with lab employees to monitor quality, as well as identify, access, and implement new technology. The Laboratory has certification and accreditation through the College of American Pathologists (CAP), American Association of Blood Banks (AABB) and Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act (CLIA).
The Clinical Laboratory Assistant – Pathology Technician (CLA-PT) is responsible for accurate and efficient receipt, processing and distribution of specimens from inpatients, outpatients and outside clients in Anatomical Pathology. Provides procedure assisting for Fine Needle Aspirations (FNA) specimen collection with physicians, pathologists and nursing at ProHealth Care locations as assigned. Assists pathologists & pathologist assistant with frozen sections at assigned ProHealth Care locations. Maintains proficiency of the Laboratory Information Systems (LIS), Electronic Health Record (EHR) and other information systems. Acts as a liaison between the laboratory, nursing, physicians, other healthcare providers and reference laboratories. Must have the ability to work at various PHC Lab locations as needed.
