Laboratory Assistant performs research activities in a laboratory environment to aid in the planning, designing, and conducting of experiments. Collects, prepares, and tests samples and records measurements or observations. Being a Laboratory Assistant prepares reports detailing results and conclusions, applications, and methodology. Conducts routine maintenance and safety checks on lab equipment to ensure working order. Additionally, Laboratory Assistant assists with receipt and inspection of raw materials and the ordering and stocking of materials and equipment. May be responsible for cleaning, disinfecting, and maintaining cleanrooms and equipment. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Space Dynamics Laboratory is seeking highly skilled, motivated students to work alongside our world class engineers developing, assembling, and testing hardware for a program in the Strategic and Military Space (SMS) division. The program will be completing the Critical Design Reviews over the next several months and beginning flight fabrication. It is a great time to join the team and experience the process of completing a space-based instrument. Our students are an integral part of the development team and support project reviews, deliveries, and integration with the hope of becoming full-time employees upon graduation, depending on funding, performance, and program needs.
The selected candidates must be able to work as part of larger engineering teams, both internal and external to the SDL organization. You will need to own all aspects of your assigned responsibility alongside your mentor.
The duration of employment is expected to begin as soon as possible and is expected to continue until graduation.
