Collects, prepares, and tests samples and records measurements or observations. Being a Laboratory Assistant prepares reports detailing results and conclusions, applications, and methodology. Conducts routine maintenance and safety checks on lab equipment to ensure working order. Additionally, Laboratory Assistant assists with receipt and inspection of raw materials and the ordering and stocking of materials and equipment. May be responsible for cleaning, disinfecting, and maintaining cleanrooms and equipment. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Laboratory Assistant work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. To be a Laboratory Assistant typically requires 0-2 years of related experience. SUMMARY OF POSITION :
The Lead Laboratory Assistant/Phlebotomist provides daily oversight for the collection, processing, and delivery of all specimens flowing into the laboratory. Additionally, this individual facilitates education, training, problem-solving, and serves as a resource for communications with other healthcare providers.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Two years experience working in a clinical laboratory environment with preference to the technical lab/phlebotomy setting required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent client service skills
The ability to work well within a team and the ability to also work independently
Excellent problem-solving skills
Organized and detail-oriented.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Medical Laboratory technician preferred Certified phlebotomist preferred.
