Job Description:
As a Phlebotomist at Vanguard Laboratory Innovations, you will play a
crucial role in our mission to provide accurate and timely diagnostic testing services to
healthcare providers and patients. You will be responsible for performing blood draws and
specimen collection with precision and compassion, receiving, unpacking, processing,
recording sample on appropriate log's, communicating to Client Services team for any sample
issues or requesting of additional information. While ensuring a positive patient experience
while maintaining the highest standards of safety and professionalism.
Responsibilities:
● Perform venipunctures and capillary punctures on patients of all ages.
● Label and properly handle specimens for processing.
● Maintain a clean and organized work area, following infection control protocols.
● Provide exceptional customer service by ensuring patient comfort and answering
questions.
● Collaborate with laboratory staff to ensure accurate specimen processing and testing.
● Verifies aspects of incoming samples and assess acceptability of the sample testing.
● Resolve and document incomplete or unacceptable specimens.
● Ensure that test requisitions are properly filled out.
● Manage sample storage inventory.
● Create sample batches, print labels and label tubes and batches.
● Support the administrative functions of the Clinical Laboratory as required.
● Check, monitor and record temperatures.
● Work closely with other laboratory staff to provide consistent and ongoing support to
the entire service department.
● Perform other miscellaneous laboratory duties as assigned and assist others as needed.
● Adhere to all relevant regulations and standards, including HIPAA.
Education:
● High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)
● Completion of an accredited phlebotomy training program
Qualifications:
● Certification as a phlebotomist is preferred, but not required
● Knowledge of laboratory techniques and procedures related to phlebotomy
● Familiarity with medical terminology and anatomy
● Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately
● Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with patients and
healthcare professionals
● Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and efficiency
