The job position of Clinical Laboratory Assistant is an integral part of PCL’s mission of revolutionizing laboratory testing and provider partnerships that ensure all patients receive the timely care they deserve.
As a Laboratory Accessioner Assistant at Providers’ Choice Laboratory, you will be working in a fast-paced, rapidly growing environment where you will be relied on for your expertise, professionalism, and collaboration.
Responsibilities
Responsible for the processing of laboratory specimens ensuring accuracy and consistency with age-specific considerations for all patients, neonates, infants, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics, as well as employees.
Performs clerical functions, processing duties, and training of students and employees. Provides training to other Lab Assistants as needed.
. Maintains a fast and accurate specimen receiving and processing.
Orders and monitors supplies and ensures all are within the expiration date.
Under the direction of the Medical Directors and management staff, assists with state-of-the-art laboratory specimen testing, from neonates to geriatric patients ensuring patient safety.
Oversees and monitors daily tasks, accountable for the daily workflow, workflow assignments, and priority test requests.
Acts as a liaison/problem solver for specimen processing issues. Completes established competencies for the position within the designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.
Assists in stocking and maintaining laboratory supply inventory.
Assists with training laboratory assistants or laboratory students as needed.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent
Completion of a Medical Assistant or phlebotomy program or equivalent
One year to two years of laboratory experience
Skills and Competencies
Ability to autonomously calculate and interpret laboratory test results.
Attention to detail and opportunities for improvement in workflow and efficiency
Ability to effectively and professionally communicate with team members and outside clientele
