Laboratory Courier picks up and delivers medical specimens and packages for a laboratory. Ensures timely, safe, and accurate delivery. Being a Laboratory Courier is responsible for maintenance and care of vehicle. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Additionally, Laboratory Courier must be licensed to operate a vehicle. Licensing requirements depend on the state. Must have a "satisfactory" driving record. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Laboratory Courier may require 0-1 year of general work experience. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Occ Summary
Perform a variety of courier and delivery duties utilizing a motor vehicle as necessary to ensure the proper distribution of messages, mail, materials and supplies, monies, and bank deposits to various areas within the department as well as outlying locations. Work Performed
Pick -up, sort, and deliver incoming mail; meter outgoing correspondence and p packages, record postage charges to appropriate departmental component codes for billing; replenish postage in postage meter on an as-needed basis. Maintain equipment and activity log to include records of delivery activity, vehicle mileage, and other dispatch information. Maintained store room and other assigned areas in a clean and orderly manner.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
Work requires the ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions generally acquired through partial high school education.
Experience
Work requires six months of delivery experience.
Degrees, Licensures, Certifications
Valid NC driver's license.
