Job Description:
This position has overall responsibility for improving manufacturing processes and reducing operating costs of metal fabrication products. This includes, but is not limited to, working with production personnel to improve labor efficiency, recommending capital expenditures to improve throughput, designing tooling/fixtures, plant layout, maintaining a Lean Manufacturing culture and facilitating other continuous process improvements through Kaizen style methodologies.
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for the planning and implementation of assigned plant equipment projects, including budget preparation, feasibility and preparation of capital acquisition documents, project tracking, and ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Recommend process improvements to drive production costs down while maintaining customer satisfaction with Best-In-Class quality and lead times. This includes capital expenditure justification.
Implement plant level tactical plans and insures effective implementation of business unit strategic initiatives.
Oversee assigned plant equipment, building and production process projects.
Champion plant and process specific programs to identify and eliminate waste and risks. Identify and implement improvement opportunities and work to ensure operational effectiveness of the plant.
Promote development of business systems to provide the operational and financial information necessary for decision-making nd fiscal control.
Embrace quality system to ensure on-time delivery, defect free product and customer satisfaction with the ultimate goal of continuous improvement in all aspects of the operation.
Qualifications:
· BS degree in Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or equivalency in a technical field related to our company's product line.
· Demonstrated engineering and project management experience combined with increasing responsibilities, organization size and complexity. This position requires 2 years of experience with manufacturing processes. Experience in welding, metal forming, heat transfer, mechanically assembly and painting and/or powder coating a plus.
· PLC and Robot programming a plus.
· Knowledge of cost, efficiency, and productivity optimization methods
· Ability to develop and evaluate integrated systems.
· An analytical mind
· Resourcefulness
· AutoCAD experience required; prefer 3-D drawing experience such as SolidWorks.
· Capable of working in a participative, employee-empowered team environment.
· This individual must have demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills.
· Proven track record of implementing process improvements using Lean Manufacturing or other continuous process improvement techniques and principles.
· Must be an individual who enjoys engaging projects and people at the shop floor level.
· Travel will be required with customers.
Experience:
