  • What You Will Do

    The ISD-PS Weapons Windows Server Programmatic Team has an immediate and long term need for one motivated application administrator to join the DEP (Digital Enterprise Portfolio) team. The successful candidate will join a team who provides dedicated application support to the Weapons Research Services Division- Weapons Mission Technology (WRS-WMT) group for the application tools to include PDMLink, Creo, ThingWorx, MathCAD, CreoView, DOORS Next, Ansys Granta, etc. The applications are primarily used by the design and production agencies of the Weapon Engineering Associate Directorate however, support is extended to users of the applications found in more than 60% of the divisions at LANL as well as throughout the Nuclear Security Enterprise (NSE). The selected candidate will be trained to provide support of the following areas:
    • Need to Know (NTK) administration focused on security and access authorizations within PDMLink.
    • Create & manage user accounts and groups.
    • Create and manage information storage locations: Products, Libraries, and Projects within PDMLink.
    • Configure, document and maintain data management access control policies, lifecycles and workflows.
    • Assist in the testing of new releases of current application solutions.
    • Provide support to end users and peers in areas of application use, problem solving, and training to achieve measurable skill improvement.
    • Package software for remote distribution & perform client installation and training.
    • Share knowledge with colleagues in the forementioned application Admin tasks.
    • Work full-time on implementation issues and serve as the SME regarding all user policies, data organization, and file security policies.
    • Work closely with server administrators, software developers, computer scientists and database administrators.
    • Use ServiceNow ticketing system to manage support requests and Atlassian (Jira/Confluence) for project management and documentation.


    What You Need

    Minimum Job Requirements:
    • System administration experience of computers running Microsoft Windows 10 and/or Windows 2019 Server (to include Active Directory).
    • Knowledge of complex heterogeneous computing infrastructures.
    • Experience resolving cross platform application issues.
    • Experience solving complex desktop issues.
    • Experience using RDP or similar desktop automation utilities to remotely administer systems.
    • Significant experience using a call tracking system.
    • Experience interacting with customers and peers in a professional and responsive manner, including mentoring and giving presentations.
    • Knowledge of Web-based applications, tools, and utilities.
    • Experience configuring, managing, and/or using an Oracle or SQL based applications.

    Desired Qualifications:
    • Experience configuring and supporting the Apache Tomcat web server.
    • Knowledge of PTC's software suite (PDMLink, Creo, ThingWorx, Arbortext, CreoView, MathCad, InfoEngine)
    • Knowledge of Oracle databases as used with PDMLink software.
    • Knowledge of version control and release processes in design engineering environments.
    • Experience with Linux Operating Systems.

    Education/Experience Requirements

    Position typically requires a high school diploma and six years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. At this level, additional training, certification, and/or education may be expected, including Associates degree and/or graduation from technical institutions.

    Work Environment:

    Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.

    Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

    Additional Details

    Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2.     Clearance: Q(Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.

    *Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

    New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.

    Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.

    Internal Applicants: Regular appointment employees who have served the required period of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory.
