Position: Medical Laboratory Scientist
Responsibilities:
· Performs specimen processing and rejection in accordance with laboratory SOPs, manufacturer guidelines and good clinical laboratory practices.
· Performs hematology, chemistry, immuno-assay, coagulation clinical analysis using the Abbott and Siemens platforms.
· Performs manual extraction of nucleic acid using TaqPath Multiplex combo kit and automated RT-PCR for the detection of COVID-19.
· Reviews and verifies all raw run data and quality controls prior to submission to Technical Supervisor for approval.
· Reports out result to ordering provider in a timely manner in order to ensure that established turn-around times are met.
· Performs routine and specialized testing of clinical samples.
· Operates laboratory equipment to perform molecular assays for respiratory viral antigens, infectious diseases panels and pharmacogenomics testing.
· Interprets assay results accurately using instrument software and Laboratory Information System LIS.
· Performs and documents weekly, monthly, semi-annual, annual maintenance and quality control procedures for instrumentation.
· Prepares/reconstitutes isolates, quality control solutions, reagents and specimens for analysis.
· Assists Technical Supervisor to develop, implement and revise standard operating procedures as needed.
· Maintains laboratory records.
· Trains new employees, students/interns as needed.
· Reports any issues in regards to testing or personnel to the Laboratory Operations Manager.
· Troubleshoots instrument and testing issues to ensure that established turn-around times are met.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Excellent laboratory and technical skills. Knowledge of manual RNA extraction and RT-PCR preferred. Ability to work independently once trained, excellent team-player, ability to maintain a sterile work area, excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science.
Minimum Experience: Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of laboratory experience in a clinical or analytical setting.

Pay: $26.00 - $31.00 per hour
