Lab Manager ensures all laboratories operate smoothly, schedules staff, reorder supplies, maintains all security and safety protocols are met by those in the lab. Responsible for all aspects at the lab, which includes tracking, calibrating, and monitoring equipment, including replenishing, and purchasing supplies. This includes establishing the necessary documentation associated with prototype builds (e.g. travelers, document sign offs), monitoring as well as mentoring test technicians. Lab Manager is also responsible for training lab technicians on the correct use of equipment, mentoring engineers and when necessary, discipline lab staff. This includes receiving equipment, components, various materials and/or supplies and placing them into quality hold or quarantine, also filing associated documentation, the handling and disposal of scrap and/or test samples while also keeping the multiple labs generally clean.
