Laboratory Manager manages the daily activities of the laboratory. Develops laboratory policies and procedures and issues updates as needed. Being a Laboratory Manager plans and designs experiments. Estimates the time and resources needed to complete projects. Additionally, Laboratory Manager orders and inspects materials and equipment and maintains detailed and accurate inventory of lab supplies. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Laboratory Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Laboratory Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. Clear Choice Dermatology is seeking a Histology Lab Supervisor to join our team at our Salem, OR clinic. In this position you will work in a fast paced, client focused and challenging environment and will be part of our growing Dermatopathology Laboratory. 


    Schedule for this position will be Monday- Friday from ( 8am-5pm)


    Duties:

    • Supervise the day-to-day operations of the histology lab
    • Ensure laboratory tests are accurately performed and results are reported in timely manner
    • Directly supervise, train and mentor laboratory personnel of the department
    • Monitor daily workflow in the lab and schedule adequate assay coverage
    • Research and resolve any production errors while escalating when necessary 
    • Engage in continuous process and service level improvements
    • Maintenance of equipment, adhere to monthly maintenance
    • Ensure all equipment is being properly maintained through Quality Control
    • Prepare and Maintain Quality Assurance records and documents 
    • Evaluate new process improvements and make appropriate recommendations
    • Meet regularly with direct reports to provide coaching and feedback for their development
    • Perform bench work as needed and maintain proficiency/competency in technical operations
    • Ensure all work is in accordance with State and Federal regulations
    • Responsible for administering and managing policies and procedures
    • perform administrative duties as needed

    Requirements

    • Bachelor's Degree in a Biology (preferred, but not required)
    • Associates Degree in Science required
    • Minimum 2-5 years of technical experience in Histology-- Derm experience a plus
    • Clinical Laboratory Supervisor license in HT or HTL 
    • 3 years Supervisory Experience Preferred
    • Mohs experience a Plus
    • Strong working knowledge of CLIA relevant state regulations
    • Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
    • Proficient with Laboratory Information Systems and Microsoft Office
    • Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
    • High level of attention to detail with strong organizational skills
    • Comfortability making decisions in a changing environment
    • Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
    • Proof of vaccination for COVID-19 (must be fully vaccinated: at least two weeks or more following receipt of the second dose in a two-dose series, or two or more weeks following receipt of a single-dose vaccine plus booster when eligible by position).
