Laboratory Manager manages the daily activities of the laboratory. Develops laboratory policies and procedures and issues updates as needed. Being a Laboratory Manager plans and designs experiments. Estimates the time and resources needed to complete projects. Additionally, Laboratory Manager orders and inspects materials and equipment and maintains detailed and accurate inventory of lab supplies. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Laboratory Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Laboratory Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. Duties:
Day to day laboratory operations of a production laboratory actively testing for:
Overseeing all Quality systems in place in the production area and implementing new systems as needed.
Manage two technicians.
Maintain all production batching and quality paperwork.
Maintain all Quality records.
Defending quality audits conducted by customers and chemical suppliers.
Oversee process changes and validate batching procedures as needed.
Assist in preparing samples for trial work both University and private.
Prepare specialty samples as needed for various costumers and sales staff.
This position is the main technical advisor for the production plant.
