Laboratory Services Director manages the daily activities of the laboratory. Develops laboratory policies and procedures and issues updates as needed. Being a Laboratory Services Director plans and designs experiments. Estimates the time and resources needed to complete projects. Additionally, Laboratory Services Director orders and inspects materials and equipment and maintains detailed and accurate inventory of lab supplies. Requires a master's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Laboratory Services Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. The Medical Technologist independently performs laboratory procedures. Accurately interprets, documents, and reports out test results (including critical values) to clinicians. Performs quality control testing, instrument maintenance and troubleshooting. Verifies analytic accuracy, precision, sensitivity, and reference ranges for test methods. Communicates professionally with providers and other staff members and serves as a resource for questions. Continually under the risk of infections and toxic exposure. Minimum Education Required : Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology/CLS (or related degree/coursework) that qualifies for a ASCP board certification. Associate degree from an MLT program to qualify for ASCP board certification.
Minimum related Years of Experience Required : To fulfill General Supervisor functions: One year performing high complexity testing in this laboratory or as designated by laboratory director. (Must ensure compliance with CMS-CLIA/CAP defined standards as relevant to particular duties).
Credential/Licensure Required : Must be ASCP Certified or eligible. Must obtain certification within 1 year of hire.
Shift : Working as needed in Lab, no set schedule. There is a 10% differential for hours worked.
