General Statement of Duties
Provides technical and administrative support to the staff and public involving services provided by the laboratory. Reports to the Laboratory Director, or designee.
This is a grant-funded position that will be scheduled to work approximately 15 hours per week in the Town of Greenwich Health Department Lab in Town Hall.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma, plus six (6) months of related sciences experience. Associates Degree in Medical Technology, Laboratory Science, Biology, Chemistry or related scientific discipline preferred.
Qualifications:
Demonstrated knowledge of laboratory practices, procedures, and safeguards in using chemical, electrical, mechanical, and biological equipment.
Demonstrated ability to operate laboratory equipment.
Proficiency in the operation of a personal computer and related software.
Proven ability to apply and formulate data obtained from laboratory analysis.
Proven ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues, supervisors, officials of other agencies, and the public.
Proven ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Proven organizational skills.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and multi-task.
Ability to lift and carry laboratory supplies and equipment (up to 25 pounds).

Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides customer service in support of inquiries regarding the laboratory.
Tracks and analyzes laboratory data as it pertains to environmental and clinical testing.
Assists with report writing as needed.
Assists with tick analysis and insect identification.
Provides the public with educational materials regarding water analysis, Lyme diseases, and other public health issues.
Assists with the preparation of media, reagents and development standards for laboratory procedures.
Maintains laboratory records.
Dispenses sample bottles for analysis.
Assists with maintaining laboratory supplies.
Maintains laboratory equipment as needed.
Supports Town policies and philosophies.
Performs related work as required.
Supplemental Information
All positions may be subject to an interview process. The Town reserves the right to limit the number of qualified candidates who will be invited to participate in the recruitment, or any part thereof.
All outside candidates will be required to undertake and successfully pass a pre-employment medical examination, which includes a substance abuse test that includes testing for THC (the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana), given at the Town's expense prior to employment if conditionally offered a part time, full time or safety sensitive position.
