SUMMARY
Under the direct supervision of Women’s Health Program Manager and Medical Director of Children’s Health, the Lactation Consultant is responsible for:
The delivery of patient care through prenatal breastfeeding education, as well as post-partum breastfeeding assessment, diagnosis, planning and evaluation, at several NEVHC health center sites.
Ensuring services meet clinic standards of excellence and the satisfaction of patients
Able to manage other personnel in the performance of installing and maintaining an information system such as ISIS with good written and verbal skills.
REPORTS TO: Women’s Health Program Manager Medical Director of Children’s Health
REQUIREMENTS
1. Current certification as Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) with at least 3-5 year’s experience.
2. Basic Life Support Certified – Adult, Child, Infant for the professional rescuer, sponsored by the American Heart Association required.
3. Previous experience working in a community setting and/or with low income, underserved and /or high risk populations is desirable.
4. Maintains current Basic Life Support Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate and documentation on mandatory requirements such as TB testing, medical examinations and competency standards.
5. Thorough working knowledge of business English, spelling, punctuation, and contemporary general office practices and procedures.
6. Computer skills in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, etc.), electronic health record systems, and database systems.
7. Strong verbal and interpersonal skills to communicate clearly and effectively with patients and others.
8. Experience teaching 1 to 1 or in small groups.
9. Fluency in English (speaks, read and write).
10.Fluency in Spanish (speaks, translate, read and write).
