Being a Lactation Consultant is responsible for identifying and correcting lactation problems, and advising physicians and healthcare providers on lactation problems experienced by patients. Requires an associate degree in nursing or equivalent. Additionally, Lactation Consultant requires Registered Nurse (RN) License. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Current certification as Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) with at least 3-5 year’s experience.2. Basic Life Support Certified – Adult, Child, Infant for the professional rescuer, sponsored by the American Heart Association required.3. Previous experience working in a community setting and/or with low income, underserved and /or high risk populations is desirable.4. Maintains current Basic Life Support Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate and documentation on mandatory requirements such as TB testing, medical examinations and competency standards.5. Thorough working knowledge of business English, spelling, punctuation, and contemporary general office practices and procedures.6. Computer skills in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, etc.), electronic health record systems, and database systems.7. Strong verbal and interpersonal skills to communicate clearly and effectively with patients and others.8. Experience teaching 1 to 1 or in small groups.9.
