Lactation Consultant provides lactation support and education to patients and families. May plan and lead breastfeeding classes for expecting mothers. Being a Lactation Consultant is responsible for identifying and correcting lactation problems, and advising physicians and healthcare providers on lactation problems experienced by patients. Requires an associate degree in nursing or equivalent. Additionally, Lactation Consultant requires Registered Nurse (RN) License. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. ResponsibilitiesPosition Summary:Staff Nurses assesses patient/family health problems and resources, takes a leadership role in the development, implementation and outcomes evaluation of a plan for nursing care provided by the nursing team. Provides technical nursing care and interventions to designated patient populations. This position requires providing service to a one or more age populations including an ill neonate through geriatric patient population in a manner that demonstrates an understanding of the functional/developmental age of the individual served.
QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:- Current California Registered Nursing (RN) license
- Graduate of an RN School of Nursing
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
Preferred Qualifications:- IBCLC certification preferred
- One (1) year of recent acute care experience preferred
- Bachelor's degree in health-related fields preferred
- Computer literacy preferred
