Lactation Consultant provides lactation support and education to patients and families. May plan and lead breastfeeding classes for expecting mothers. Being a Lactation Consultant is responsible for identifying and correcting lactation problems, and advising physicians and healthcare providers on lactation problems experienced by patients. Requires an associate degree in nursing or equivalent. Additionally, Lactation Consultant requires Registered Nurse (RN) License. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Job Description:
This is a per diem position will be responsible for answering all phone calls that come into the health center from pregnant patients during business hours, and directing them appropriately. In addition, the CLC will participate in Baby Café, and provide lactation support to perinatal patients in real time.
Educational Requirements:
High School Diploma and Medical Assistant Certificate Preferred
Experience Required:
At least five years of experience working with community health center patients.
Professional Licensure/Special Skills and Certification Required:
Certified Lactation Consultant
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position would be responsible for providing support and guidance to the Peer Counselor at Baby Café.
Reporting Relationship:
This position will report to the Manager of Perinatal Services
