You must be be a qualified employee of New York State and have one (1) year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible to transfer under Civil Service law section 70.1.
Proof of a New York State Surveyors License and registration is also required.
Under the supervision of the Authority's Senior Land Surveyor, the Land Surveyor will utilize professional judgment to:
Provide support to the newly formed Real Property Management Group of acquisitions & disposals; perform complex highway or state land boundary determinations; assist in the establishment of standards and procedures utilized in surveying and in the pursuit of technological advances; including fostering development of an Unmanned Aerial Systems survey program. Manages project priorities, staff, work schedules, and consultant services to deliver the Thruway Authority's land surveying program. Ensures quality control of survey related products and data integrity for internal and consultant work. Provides direct supervision and technical direction of field and/or office staff and provides guidance and direction to survey consultants. Sign and seal survey maps.
Provisional appointees must take and obtain a reachable score on the next holding of the Land Surveyor Civil Service Exam to be appointed permanently.
Telecommuting may be allowed upon supervisory approval.
This position may be designated 55 b/c and is subject to verification of applicant eligibility.
