Land Surveyors Supervisor jobs in Birmingham, AL

• Plan and assign work to land survey technicians.
• Coordinate and manage survey crews and related staff.
• Collaborate with external survey firms and contractors.
• Design fieldwork and select reference points for precise location determination.
• Prepare plats, maps, reports, and legal descriptions of survey findings.
• Research public records, deeds, and legal descriptions for property ownership information.
• Write legal descriptions and prepare plats and maps for easements and property parcels.
• Generate maps of surveyed properties.
• Acquire real property, rights-of-way, and easements for survey projects.
• Perform SAP functions, including requisitions and purchase orders.
• Conduct supervisory responsibilities, including hiring, training, and performance management.

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering/mathematics or related field required.
• Four (4) years of survey practices experience, including mapping, deeds, and legal descriptions.
• Team Lead experience or demonstrated leadership skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
• Experience in environmental management preferred.
• Surveying laws, codes, methods, principles, and practices.
• ALTA/ACSM standards.
• Architectural and engineering principles.
• Land surveying instruments and equipment.
• Property ownership research methods.
• Mathematical calculations related to land surveying.
• Civil engineering plans and specifications.
• Supervisory skills.
• Certificates/Licenses: Valid driver’s license required.
• Alabama Professional Surveyor license required or obtained within 12 months of hire date.
• Participation in industry-related organizations such as the Alabama Society of Professional Land Surveyors or the National Society of Professional Surveyors required.
