Join the County Recorder/Registrar of Titles area as a Recorder/Registrar of Titles Supervisor. This position will be responsible for supervising staff engaging in document recording and indexing, responding to customer inquiries, preparing document copies, and providing other services within the division. This job is a match for individuals with strong leadership and staff development skills interested in working in a fast-paced and ever-evolving customer service and records management environment.
Location and hours:
This position is hybrid and will be performed both on-site at the Hennepin County Government Center located on 300 South 6th Street, Minneapolis, MN 55487, and remote as job duties require. Work hours will be Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. While this position is designated as hybrid, based on current requirements hires must reside in or relocate to Minnesota or Wisconsin.

This is a full-time, benefit earning position. You must be a current regular or probationary employee of the Land Information and Tax Services department to apply for this position. Limited duration employees are not eligible.

In this position, you will:
- Supervise, plan, organize, staff, direct, and coordinate operations of the County Recorder/Registrar of Titles office, with a focus on customer service, communications, electronic and physical records maintenance and retention.
- Provide supervisorial support for other functions within the office, including real property document recording, indexing and quality control.
- Ensure effective and efficient use of staff and financial resources by developing workload and productivity standards, matching staff to assignment based on strengths, and monitoring office budget compliance.
- Select, assign, train, and evaluate the performance of staff, take appropriate action on disciplinary matters, verify and monitor staff proficiency, identify staff development needs and oversee training and education activities, and conduct staff meetings.
- Collaborate with fellow supervisors and managers on special projects, make recommendations for improvement in methods and procedures, and ensure the meeting of daily statutory recording compliance standards and the functioning of the office in a manner consistent with the county's mission, vision and values.
- Promote professional growth and culture of learning through mentorship, positive coaching, and identifying development opportunities and meaningful work assignments utilizing staff’s unique strengths and skills.
- Provide leadership to further department-based strategies that align with county goals, mission and core values for diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Need to have:- Four years or more of experience managing operations, processes, and/or systems in a government-business records management or service delivery environment, and one year or more of supervisory/lead experience.
- Note: Education in business, public administration or another field appropriate to the position may be substituted for the operations, processes, and/or systems management experience on a year for year basis.
Nice to have:- Two years or more of experience recording, indexing and researching real property documents applying related policies and statutes.
- Experience:
- Coordinating and/or delivering customer service over a variety of communication mediums including in person, phone and written correspondence.
- Developing staff; including monitoring employee performance, identifying training needs/enrichment opportunities, and overseeing disciplinary matters.
- Performing project management, process improvement, or workflow integration.
- Supporting racial equity or disparity reduction work through diversity, equity, and inclusion practices.
- Knowledge of SharePoint, Power BI and call center management software.
- Skill applying plain language writing principles and standards.
- Ability to deliver excellent customer service skills over a variety of communication mediums including in person, phone and written correspondence.

Land Information and Tax Services is a department within the Resident Services Line of Business of Hennepin County that covers foundational responsibilities of government: land surveying, land recording, property tax collection and distribution. We also provide critical infrastructure and innovation support to departments throughout Resident Services.
