POSITION SUMMARY: The Landscape Architect is a professional who specializes in the planning, design and development of outdoor spaces for residential homes and organizations. They use their expertise to create visually appealing and functional landscapes that meet the needs and preferences of their clients. Ultimately, this person will also be responsible for providing current landscape design models for all ARC owned/utilized outdoor spaces in coordination and under superintendence of Second Chance Lawn Care Supervisor – Travis Blair.
The occupant of this position will perform tasks such as creating detailed plans using CAD software, analyzing environmental reports, providing recommendations on conservation and sustainability, writing proposals, liaising with lawn technicians and project managers, as well as preparing cost estimates. They will also collaborate with clients, vendors, and community members to ensure successful project delivery and create outdoor spaces that are aesthetically pleasing, environmentally friendly, and meet the functional requirements of the intended users.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Creating rough drawings and more sophisticated plans with computer-aided design (CAD) programs.
- Provide the best service to all clients by satisfying all landscaping/hardscaping desires.
- Ability to create and communicate bids to customers, as well as, generate work orders all while maintaining preset profit margins and hourly work rates.
- Analyzing complex environmental reports and using the knowledge gained in designs/plans.
- Coordinate the arrangement of existing and proposed land features and structures.
- Inspect landscape project progress to ensure that it adheres to plans.
- Providing recommendations on conservation and sustainability issues.
- Draw up reports and contracts.
- Write proposals and present them to clients.
- Seek new work through marketing activities or by giving presentations.
- Liaise with fellow technicians, team members, project managers, engineers and surveyors
- Speak to locals and community members to gain insight.
- Complete all daily scheduled tasks.
- Participate in staff and state regulatory training when required.
- Adhere to program policies and procedures while maintaining a professional code of ethics
- Maintain a valid driver’s license.
- Any other assigned duties as tasked.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/CERTIFICATION:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Associates or Bachelors degree in Agrostology, Landscape Architecture and/or other certifications. in Landscaping and/or Hardscaping preferred.
- Relevant training and/or certifications as a Landscaping Architect.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Proven work experience as a Landscaping Architect or similar role.
- Practical experience with CAD software – or comparable landscaping software.
- Good creative flair and imagination.
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication skills to facilitate routine and accelerated work requests with external contacts and manage internal expectations.
- Immense personal initiative is required to anticipate requests before they are received.
- A positive and professional team player attitude that works well under pressure and is flexible and responsible. Attention to detail, strong work ethic and initiative are key.
- Requisite knowledge and understanding of internal recovery principles and recovery driven service systems.
- Principal knowledge of the physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual impact of alcohol and other drugs on the individual and family.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle crisis situations in a calm and supportive manner.
- Ability to exhibit professional and courteous behavior, consistent with the ARC mission statement, when interacting with persons of varying backgrounds and education levels to create a safe and healthy relationship with clients served.
WORKPLACE ENVIRONMENT AND ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to read detailed health records.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to operate computer and other office equipment.
- Must have sufficient mobility to competently preforms all physical tasks listed above.
