  • Job Summary

    The Landscape Maintenance Field Manager at North County Lawn Care is a key role that requires proficiency in all aspects of residential landscape maintenance. This includes production oversight, crew training, safety, client service and some sales. In this position you would directly oversee the production of crews in the field on a daily basis, ensuring quality and safety standards are met.  Following and improving upon the North County Lawn Care processes is an important requirement of this role. Interacting frequently with the scheduler, client rep, salesperson, billing dept and shop personnel to ensure jobs are executed properly and efficiently. The maintenance manager will keep the office-based client support team informed about onsite activities and work together to strategize for excellence. This position requires someone who has a passion and knowledge in landscape maintenance and is willing to roll up their sleeves, grab the pruners to actively teach crews on proper techniques and pace of work, while striving to meet budgeted hours and maintain a positive teamwork environment. 

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Oversee and coordinate day-to-day activities on jobsites: As the Landscape Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating maintenance crews, getting them out of the yard each day and ensuring that all job orders are completed, efficiently and to North County standards.   

    • Instill company vision and values: You will play a vital role in instilling our company vision and values every day throughout the maintenance division. This will help foster a positive work culture and ensure that our team is aligned with our mission.

    • Identify and coordinate equipment and material needs: It will be your responsibility to identify and coordinate the equipment and material needs for the maintenance division before the start of each day. This will help ensure that our crews have the necessary resources to perform their jobs efficiently.

    • Manage contract work within estimated hours and budgets: Understanding the unique qualities of each maintenance contract is critical. You will need to ensure that the work is performed within the estimated hours and budgets, while maintaining the quality that meets client expectations.

    • Seek and secure upsell enhancement opportunities: As part of our commitment to excellence, we always strive to identify upsell enhancement opportunities. Your role will involve actively seeking and facilitating these opportunities to provide added value to our clients.

    • Monitor crew quality output and mentor for improvement: Monitoring the quality output of our crews is essential to maintaining client expectations and retention. You will quickly identify and correct any deficiencies while also providing mentorship and training to our technicians for their skill development and career progression.

    • Follow Company Processes & Procedures: You willadopt the many established North County processes and procedures, while being proactive and taking the opportunity to make suggestions for improvement in the North County Lawn Care way.

    • Ensure safety procedures are followed: Safety is of utmost importance to us. You will ensure that safety procedures are followed by all crew members and promptly correct any unsafe work conditions.

    • Participate in recruitment process and mentor employee performance: You will be involved in the recruitment process, evaluating new hire applications, and providing input and support for HR. Additionally, you will mentor employee performance by giving frequent feedback and fostering a positive work environment.

    • Contribute to company's strategic plan and training initiatives: As a Landscape Maintenance Manager, you will contribute to the development, implementation, and achievement of the company's strategic plan. You will also assist in the development and implementation of training initiatives to enhance production efficiency.

    Qualifications, Skills & Attributes

    • Minimum 5 years experience in landscaping industry: We are looking for someone with a minimum of 5 years of experience working in the landscaping industry, performing or supervising landscape maintenance functions such as mowing, fertilization/weed control, bed maintenance, pruning/trimming, and snow/ice services.

    • Competent in PNW plant identification and care techniques: Familiarity with common PNW plant identification and care techniques will be advantageous in maintaining our clients' landscapes effectively.

    • 1-3 years of supervisory experience: Previous experience in a supervisory or crew lead/project manager role is required. This will demonstrate your ability to effectively lead and manage teams.

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Cloud-based Apps: Competence in using Microsoft Office and Cloud-based Apps is necessary for effective communication and documentation.

    • Basic irrigation knowledge and pesticide license preferred: Basic knowledge of irrigation systems and possession of a pesticide license are highly desirable qualifications for this role.

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills: As the Landscape Maintenance Manager, you will be communicating with individuals both inside and outside of the organization. It is crucial to possess professional appearance, communication and interpersonal skills.

    • Ability to work under pressure and prioritize tasks: The ability to work under pressure and prioritize tasks will be essential to meet deadlines and ensure efficient operations.

    • Bilingual in English/Spanish a plus: Being bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus and will be valuable in communicating with our diverse client base.

    • Clean driving record: A clean driving record is required as you may be provided with a company truck for business purposes.
