The Laundry worker performs a variety of functions in the laundry area of Dining Services.
This is considered a full-time hourly benefits eligible position. The hiring range for the position is $17.00 - $20.80 per hour
Core Responsibilities:
- Participate in laundry pick up and delivery from all operation locations
- Sort and process all uniforms and other linen used in the dining and catering department
- Basic sewing skills to support simple uniform repair
- Safely use all equipment according to guidelines (Press, Washer, Dryer, chemicals)
- Gather and label linen ordered thru CaterTrax for catering
- Communicate professionally and consistently with coworkers to be sure that understanding is clear
- Maintain Middlebury College Drivers license to participate in laundry pick up and delivery
Requirements
Position Prerequisites:
- High school diploma preferred, must have reading skills for using chemicals to remove stains and spots.
- Must meet the qualifications to obtain a Middlebury College operator's license (a valid driver's license for at least three years) in order to operate the delivery van.
- Will be trained on use of various products for stain removal and washing techniques for various fabrics.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Ability to establish and maintain working relations with supervisors, fellow workers, students and the rest of the College staff.
- Ability to follow a schedule. May be asked to work additional hours.
- Previous experience with cleaning and stain removal helpful but not required.
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to lift, bend, push and climb. Laundry delivery and processing requires consistent physical movement and lifting 20-40lbs or more multiple times daily.
- Must be able to maintain a Middlebury College Drivers license – to support laundry pick up and delivery.
