In-house drafting, fabrication, sandblasting and powder-coating is part of our production line.

    Job Description

    Modern Metals is looking for a self-motivated and detail-oriented Project Manager. This individual is responsible for leading and managing the planning and execution of a variety of metal erection projects with one objective: to ensure the success of each project the first time through. Projects range from residential communities to mixed-use, mid-rise commercial buildings. The Project Manager ensures that the scope, schedules, and budgets for each project are planned thoroughly, communicated clearly, and executed accordingly, leading the project from the point of sale through the final invoice.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Plan and organize resources to ensure first-time-through success focusing on scope, schedules and budgets
    • Work closely with the sales, engineering, and operation teams to ensure project success
    • Assist sales with pre-contract work such as proposal preparation, scope definition, submittal drawings, planning resources, budgets and cost-estimate calculation for accurate bids
    • Communicate directly with customers throughout the life of the project
    • Review contracts and plan projects thoroughly
    • Provide direction and support to engineering and execution teams, allocating resources and delegating responsibilities as needed to achieve the objective of first time-through success
    • Coordinate all delivery and installation schedules and activities
    • Monitor project cost and profit margin, taking necessary actions to stay within budget
    • Proactively manage and document change orders from the customers
    • Work with outside vendors when appropriate, maintaining great relationships
    • Travel to project locations as needed
    • Manage punch lists and project-closing activities
    • Ensure customer satisfaction. Verify customer acceptance upon project completion.

    Key Skills/Requirements

    • 5-7 years of construction project management experience with strong project management skills
    • Effective understanding of metal fabrication procedures, tools and resources
    • Ability to effectively read and evaluate blueprints and shop drawings
    • Strong planning, organization, and documentation abilities
    • Ability to plan and oversee multiple projects simultaneously
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Strong customer service orientation with dynamic relationship building and negotiation skills
    • Proficient computer navigation and use of Microsoft Office
    • Able to remain focused under pressure, and effectively solve problems
    • Detail-oriented with high focus and accuracy thinking
    • Self-directed and able to complete work without supervision
    • Teachable; able to follow instructions
    • Mindset of continual improvement
    • A hardworking, trustworthy, humble team-player
