    Job Description

    This position is responsible for establishing relationships with manufacturing company owners and leaders to build trust and discover company needs. The role will be responsible for training and technical assistance projects for Idaho's small and medium manufacturers to improve their products and processes. Projects will focus on initiatives for increasing sales, cost savings, investment, and jobs. Key responsibilities include:

    • Business development, marketing, and sales of services to local manufacturers, 50% of the time:
    1. Represent TechHelp and Idaho State University in various public forums to build trusted advisor relationships and inform potential clients of organizational service capabilities. 
    2. Privately conduct in-plant discovery engagements and inform manufacturing company decision-makers of enterprise-wide service capabilities on high-impact opportunities. 
    3. Develop key summary documents for company needs assessment, including recommendations. 
    4. Prepare scopes of work and proposals to companies for fee-based projects responsive to their needs and secure project commitment from company leadership. 
    5. Locate and vet appropriate consulting resources or consult directly on proposed projects.
    6. Report regularly on company contacts, projects, and events; be accountable for project results and impacts; and participate in the MEP client survey process.
    • Fee-based client technical assistance to local manufacturers, 30% of the time.
    • Miscellaneous activities for the good of TechHelp and Idaho State University, 15% of the time
    • Enhance skills with industry best practices and business development methods, 5% of the time

    Regular Statewide travel is required.

    Reports to: Dr. Jeff Street, Center for Entrepreneurship and Economic Development Director; and Steve Hatten, TechHelp Executive Director, Boise State University

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Education: Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or related field
    • Knowledge: Understanding of the strategic leadership roles (finance, operations, sales/marketing, product development, technology, human resources, etc.) of manufacturing/engineering companies
    • Experience: Five (5) years in manufacturing or engineering work environments

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Worked as a consultant and can develop relationships with senior leadership and clients
    • Functioned in a Supervisory role
    • Led organizations and managed projects that created transformational change
    • Involved with decision-making on the implementation of advanced manufacturing technologies
    • Worked with holistic operational excellence teams

    Additional Information

Salary will be between $85,000 and $95,000 annually, commensurate with education and experience.
