Manager IT - SAP Basis & Database Administration

Location: Hybrid at Kohler, WI Opportunity Kohler Co is driving a digital transformation to fuel growth through an increasing focus on new digital business models and capabilities. Strategic investments are being made to drive efficiency in the supply chain, automate plant operations, excel at the direct-to-consumer experience and drive new insights with data and analytics. This position is a key role in accelerating Kohler’s journey by understanding how to leverage new technology to support these digital initiatives. The position is responsible for the performance management and direct leadership of the SAP Basis and Database team, responsible for planning long-range requirements for database administration in conjunction with other IT managers, implementing and maintaining databases and related support software, and defining and approving methods to maintain database integrity and security. This role leads Kohler’s Basis & Database team and has the following scope and expectations. Basis: Ensure that SAP reliably supports the business needs. This includes providing support for new installations, upgrades and patches to SAP systems (OSS notes, support packages, add-ons), monitoring system performance and overall health of the system, while ensuring connectivity with other business systems. Coordinate and/or perform system refreshes. Responsible for the accountability of hosting partner and other partners and developers, aiming for timeliness in execution, excellence in quality and reasonable cost. Database: Accountable for establishing the database architecture, engineering, and administration of all Oracle, SQL and Azure platforms including the installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, migration, capacity planning, performance tuning, backup and recovery. This included maintaining documentation, generating weekly/monthly reports, and developing and implementing security policies and procedures. System Upgrades: Maintain the integrity of critical systems (as indicated by disaster recovery definition). For SAP systems, either annually or bi-annually stems with the latest security patches and support stack to help maintain the efficiency and performance of these systems. For Oracle and SQL, apply the latest security patches, patch sets for Oracle or cumulative updates for SQL. Responsible for creating the calendar, communicating the timelines and managing the third-party vendors assisting with these activities. SAP Archiving: Accountable for executing the data archiving process of current archive objects in the ECC production system. Today, we are using a proven archive execution solution to reduce risk and avoid inconsistencies that is by provided by a third party provider. Work with business and functional teams to review the recommendations provided by the third party provider that include, but not limited to, recommendations for process enhancement, next best candidates for data archiving, and data retention. Global Delivery and Resource Management: Responsible for leading a global team for designing, building, testing, implementing and sustaining our databases. This includes recruiting, leading, and developing a diverse global team across multiple time zones of database architects and database analysts and selecting and managing contractors and 3rd party Systems Integrators. The successful candidate will be a passionate people leader, strategic thinker and a change agent, able to build credibility and influence at all levels of the organization. The ability to rapidly understand the opportunities at Kohler, create an aligned and inspiring vision and roadmap, and then lead a global team to realize that vision, are critical to success. This role will drive programs of critical importance to Kohler and will bring with it significant senior level visibility and career opportunities for the successful candidate. Must be capable of directing and supervising a wide range of activities covering multiple concurrent projects, and interfacing with personnel and leaders from all regions and business units. The position has wide latitude for un-reviewed action and decision. The Kohler IT – Basis & Database Manager requires broad skills and experience, sufficient depth of expertise to credibly recommend and deliver required solutions, and the ability to evangelize and drive consensus across the organization.
