    We are currently recruiting for a Medical Billing Manager. 

    The Medical Billing Manager is responsible for the successful management, administration, and supervision of all functions related to insurance billing and posting charges and payments.  The Medical Billing Manager will be responsible for managing inventory and staff to ensure all claims are billed timely and accurately.  The Medical Billing Manager will create and review monthly reports, analyze outcomes, identify trends, and ensure timely and proactive communication to leadership.  This position will be responsible for coordinating with key departments to improve outcomes while minimizing manual workflows.  The Medical Billing Manager originates, implements, and leads billing office objectives that will provide an employee-oriented, customer service focused, high performance culture that emphasizes empowerment, quality, productivity and standards, goal attainment, and the recruitment and ongoing development of a superior workforce.

    This role requires an individual with strong analytical and problem-solving and metadata skills.  The ideal candidate will be a self-starter comfortable with ambiguity, with strong attention to detail, and an ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

    ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES OR RESPONSIBILITIES

      • Oversee the operations of the billing department, claims submissions, payment posting, accounts receivable follow-up, and reimbursement management.
      • Analyze billing and claims for accuracy and completeness; submit claims to proper insurance entities and follow up on any issues.
      • Maintains contacts with other departments to obtain and analyze additional patient information to document and process billings.
      • Audit current procedures to monitor and improve efficiency of billing and collections operations.
      • Ensure that the activities of the billing operations are conducted in a manner that is consistent with overall department protocol, and are in compliance with Federal, State, and payer regulations, guidelines, and requirements.
      • Participate in the development and implementation of operating policies and procedures.

       

      • Review and interpret operational data to assess need for procedural revisions and enhancements; participate in the design and implementation of specific systems to enhance revenue and operating efficiency.
      • Analyze trends impacting charges, coding, collection, and accounts receivable and take appropriate action to realign staff and revise policies and procedures.
      • Keep up to date with carrier rule changes and distribute the information within the practice.
      • Understand and remain updated with current coding and billing regulations and compliance requirements.
      • Maintain a working knowledge of all health information management issues such as HIPAA and all health regulations.
      • Supervise billing office personnel, which includes work allocation, training, and problem resolution; evaluate performance and make recommendations for personnel actions; motivate employees to achieve peak productivity and performance.
      • Provide, oversee, and/or coordinate the provision of training for new and existing billing staff on applicable operating policies, protocols, systems and procedures, standards, and techniques.
      • Coordinate team member time off in a manner that does not negatively impact necessary daily functions.
      • Monitor health plan response files to ensure appropriate action is occurring including timely posting of files to the system.
      • Ensures accurate reimbursement is being received for services rendered.
      • Ensure accurate and timely posting of all remits and identify payer trends and concerns.
      • Works collaboratively with leadership on key performance indicators (KPI’s) and effectiveness of the billing team.
      • Analyzes system data and reports and makes recommendations to improve processes as needed.
      • Collaborates with the Business Intelligence Manager to improve system configuration, file submission, and reduction in overall denials/rejections.
      • Conducts performance evaluations, recommends salary increases and initiates appropriate disciplinary action when required.
      • Staffs and maintains adequate levels of personnel according to the staffing plan.
      • Monitors work of team members, maintains effective personnel relations, and ensures that goals are achieved.
      • Active knowledge of Medicaid and CMS guidelines, contracted insurance guidelines and coding policies.
      • Perform other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
