The Service Manager is responsible for the overall operation of the Service department at the branch location. You will Lead a team of service professionals to safely and efficiently repair, maintain, and up fit GWT owned and customer trailers, and operate a profitable business. This role is responsible for executing on the local growth plan. The Service Manager works closely with other branch managers, as well as senior management to execute the local operation in accordance with overall company goals.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the leadership, management, recruitment, screening, hiring, training, and development of all Service personnel.
- Manage, measure and monitor service performance through regular KPI reporting, and regular service team meetings.
- Report on the state of the business to senior leadership.
- Work with senior leadership to develop and execute growth plans, and create annual budgets.
- Responsible for ensuring the service department is meeting targets, and taking corrective action when necessary to ensure service performance is on track.
- Responsible for the overall service schedule. Properly prioritizing all work within the service team by appropriately balancing internal and external service work.
- Work closely with other branch managers through daily communication and weekly meetings to ensure priorities are clear and set across all teams in order to execute tasks efficiently, and best serve the entire GWT customer base.
- Maintain existing, and build new, customer relationships.
- Responsible for the overall repair order process from estimate to invoice. Assign duties to branch service team members to ensure the overall repair order process runs efficiently, with the proper checks and balances in place to ensure labor and parts are captured on all R.O.’s
- Perform quotes and estimates for semi-trailer repairs.
- Review repair orders for completeness and accuracy prior to customer billing
- Periodically visit customers to maintain the customer relationship, evaluate their service needs, understand problems, and ensure satisfaction with branch performance.
- Administer manufacturer warranty claims.
- Ensure that necessary shop tools, service equipment, and vehicles are available and maintained in good working order.
- Review overall and individual performance on a regular basis with the service team members.
- Administer the applicable safety program including inspections and safety meetings ensuring GWLS is in compliance with all regulatory safety requirements.
- Monitor and ensure all shop specific certifications are current.
- Physical activities include walking, lifting, twisting, turning, climbing a ladder etc.
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Service Manager, Service Foreman, Technician, or Sales Representative.
- Resource must have experience using management judgement in situations for personnel discrepancies, conflict management, and customer solutions.
- Experience as a technician is preferred.
- High School Diploma or GED Required.
- ASE or other certification is preferred.

Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly exposed to working near moving mechanical parts, working in high precarious places, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. The employee will be exposed to extremes in temperature and environmental conditions. The employee may work in a shop, yard, or out of a vehicle.
