Advocates for Basic Legal Equality, Inc. (ABLE), a non-profit law firm that provides free, high-quality legal assistance to people living in poverty in western Ohio, seeks a Long-term Care Ombudsman for ABLE’s Ombudsman program in the Lima, Ohio region.Advocates for Basic Legal Equality, Inc. (ABLE), a non-profit law firm that provides free, high-quality legal assistance in civil matters to low-income individuals and groups in northwest Ohio, seeks an Ombudsman for its Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program. The Ombudsman will receive, investigate, and work to resolve complaints filed on behalf of consumers of long-term care services, primarily in nursing homes in the 7-county service area of Lima Ohio, Region 3. The Ombudsman will also support our volunteer program, and provide community education, and systemic advocacy related to long-term care.Candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree in social work, social services, a health-related field, or any other related field. Commensurate experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor’s Degree. Must pass a criminal background check and complete a Conflict-of-Interest screening through the Office of the State Long-Term Care Ombudsman within six months of hire. Must possess a valid driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance. Candidates should have excellent communication and human relations skills and a demonstrated commitment to advocacy on behalf of consumers of long-term care services. Candidates must have the combined qualities of excellent interpersonal and administrative skills.
