Legal Services Director oversees the activities of the organization's legal department. Provides legal advice, interpretation, and guidance to senior management and officers regarding contracts, state/federal regulatory requirements, intellectual property or trademark protection, and other business matters. Being a Legal Services Director reviews all information and prepares defense for any legal actions against the organization or advises on prosecuting lawsuits on behalf of the organization. Coordinates and reviews the work of internal or external legal staff. Additionally, Legal Services Director manages staff of attorneys. Requires a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school. Requires admittance to a state bar. Typically reports to top management. The Legal Services Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. ```Duties```
- Schedule court appearances, depositions, mediations and client calls
- Speak with clients, potential new clients, and other sources of referrals to maintain business reputation
- Assist with legal drafting, including preparing legal documents, contracts, and agreements
- Organize and maintain legal files and documents
- Perform data entry and manage databases
- Provide administrative support to attorneys and legal team
- Assist with maintenance of the office, including ordering supplies, retrieving and saving the mail, forwarding calls, saving emails, and other office related tasks
- Assist with case management, including tracking deadlines and coordinating tasks
- Conduct factual research and gather evidence for cases
- Prepare correspondence and communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel
```Experience```
- Proven experience as a Legal Assistant or similar role
- Knowledge of legal terminology, processes, and procedures
- Familiarity with legal research tools such as Westlaw or LexisNexis
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with file management and document control systems
