Lending Officer conducts lending activities for an assigned market or geographic area. Develops a pipeline of customers through referrals, inquiries, and outreach. Being a Lending Officer performs a due diligence review of potential borrowers, including a risk and financial analysis. Structures loan proposals, prepares credit memos, and presents to loan committee for approval. Additionally, Lending Officer may manage a portfolio of existing loans, including reviewing financial reporting, monitoring compliance with loan terms, and handling loan modifications or workouts. Ensures adherence to regulations, bank credit policies, and procedures. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Lending Officer work is closely managed.     Overview

    To build and maintain successful member and dealer relationships by opening new member accounts, efficiently funding and servicing indirect automobile loans, while ensuring supporting documentation and records are accurately prepared according to policies and procedures.

    Responsibilities

    • Ensure funding packets received from participating dealers are completed accurately and are compliant with credit union policies and procedures.
    • Update and/or validate the accuracy of all data within the loan origination system within specified time frames.
    • Interpret loan approvals and/or conditions and ensure all requirements have been met prior to funding.
    • If the applicant is a non-member and the dealer has submitted the new account application, complete the account opening process, following all procedures and compliance requirements for new account opening.
    • Fund completed loan applications in a timely manner to meet or exceed established funding goals with minimal errors.
    • Contact members as assigned to confirm the accuracy of loan application details and verify purchase accessories.
    • Send appropriate letters and notices to members such as Adverse Action Notices, Disbursement Letters and Welcome Letters.
    • Contact dealer by phone for additional information or paperwork needed.
    • Prepare miscellaneous documents and reports and maintain related records.
    • Answer routine questions from members and dealers by phone email or web messaging, directing them to appropriate personnel if additional assistance is required.
    • Follow up with dealers by phone, email or web message, concerning approved applications.
    • Follow monthly housekeeping guidelines.
    • Perform miscellaneous clerical and secretarial functions as needed.
    • Maintain a good business relationship with dealers and represent the credit union in a professional manner.
    • Resolve problems that are within authority to resolve and refer problems that are beyond authority to supervisor along with a recommendation.
    • Follow policy and procedures related to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Customer Identification Program (CIP), and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) daily to ensure compliance with current regulations.
    • Read all internal publications including HUB and Possibilities.
    • Perform all other duties as assigned or required.

    Qualifications

    Education:

    • Two years college or equivalent experience.

     Experience:

    • Three to five years of similar or related experience.

     Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • A high level of interpersonal skills to conduct productive interviews with loan applicants and cross sell credit union services to the membership.
    • Must be accurate in all transactions.
    • Must present a friendly and professional demeanor towards members. Maintain a professional work environment and businesslike appearance.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to communicate professionally.
    • A high degree of poise and tact to represent the credit union positively in outside contacts.
    • Ability to organize and prioritize work with minimum supervision.
    • Maintain insurance and security license. (Must obtain within a year if not already licensed.)
    • Possession of a valid, unrestricted driver’s license.
    • Regular and reliable attendance is required.
    • Working knowledge of computer programs including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, and the Internet.
    • Ability to operate or have the ability to be trained to operate related office equipment including calculator, computer terminal (PC), multifunction copier, receipt and check printers, telephone and typewriter.
