Lending Officer conducts lending activities for an assigned market or geographic area. Develops a pipeline of customers through referrals, inquiries, and outreach. Being a Lending Officer performs a due diligence review of potential borrowers, including a risk and financial analysis. Structures loan proposals, prepares credit memos, and presents to loan committee for approval. Additionally, Lending Officer may manage a portfolio of existing loans, including reviewing financial reporting, monitoring compliance with loan terms, and handling loan modifications or workouts. Ensures adherence to regulations, bank credit policies, and procedures. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Lending Officer work is closely managed.     JOB FUNCTION: 

    This position will develop loan and deposit business by calling on small to middle market commercial companies, professionals and associations primarily located in New Braunfels and surrounding market areas. Manage the loan process including credit underwriting, loan documentation and ongoing loan portfolio management. Play an active role in the community to further develop business opportunities. Assist on an as needed basis with credit and deposit needs of an existing loan and deposit portfolio. 

     

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

    • Call on prospective and existing clients to generate loans, deposits and referrals to other areas of the Bank.
    • Participate in community-oriented and professional organizations
    • Analyze financial statements, underwrite credit, prepare credit memos and assist in the preparation of loan presentations.
    • Ensure loans are documented and closed properly
    • Ensure loans meet all regulatory and compliance guidelines
    • Manage an existing loan and deposit portfolio 
    • Present loan information to top management and board of directors.
    • Cross-sell bank investment, trust, deposit, residential mortgages, and other loan products
    • Other duties as assigned
       
       

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

     Work Experience

    • 3 years or more commercial lending experience to include business development, credit underwriting, loan documentation, and portfolio management.  
    • Above work experience in the New Braunfels market preferred
    • Ability to provide excellent relationship management and business development/sales skills
    • Credit analysis and underwriting skills preferred
    • Excellent presentation, verbal and written communication skills

     

    Supervisory Experience

    • N/A

     

    Education/Skills/Experience       

    • Bachelor’s degree and/or a combination of High School/GED Equivalent with 3 years of commercial lending experience 
    • Credit analysis and underwriting experience
    • Excellent presentation, verbal and writing communication skills 
    • Networking in commercial markets

     

    Equipment/Machines/Software 

    • Excellent computer literacy in all Microsoft Programs (Outlook, IE 7 and 8 and
    • other popular browsers, Word, Excel, Power Point, Adobe Reader) 
    • Ability to work with office equipment such as copiers, scanners, shredders, fax

     

    Competency Requirements

    • Ability to work effectively with individuals and groups in managing customer relationships
    • Ability to work independently
    • Ability to connect and networking with business owners and leaders
    • Ability to focus and interpret data to others

      

    Physical Requirements

    • Office/Building mobility, good vision, and hearing for traveling to various locations
    • Must be able to verbally speak to communicate with clients
    • Must be able to sit at workstation and looking at PC for most of the day, keyboarding/typing
    • Must have reliable transportation and able to travel to make calls in New Braunfels and surrounding areas
