Librarian Assistant supports library circulation and processing operations and assists library users in locating materials and using library systems and tools. Reshelves returned books and materials and updates the library information system. Being a Librarian Assistant maintains user account and access data and processes special requests for materials. Performs routine cataloging processes. Additionally, Librarian Assistant assists with maintenance and update processes for library databases, software, and systems. May perform clerical tasks related to book purchasing and payments. Requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Librarian Assistant works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job.   • Duties

    • Performs work that requires full professional knowledge of the theories, principles, and practices of librarianship to select, organize, preserve, access, manage, and disseminate information.
    • Associated with public/patron services including services for children and/or teens, technical services, and automation services. Provides all members of the Military Community with reference/research using text and online searching principles.
    • Reader's advisory/selective dissemination of information, circulation, programming and library instruction, marketing/public relations, interlibrary loans, and an up-to-date web presence.
    • Performs technical services functions including acquisitions, procurement, cataloging/classification, physical processing, and accountability of materials.
    • Performs automation services including ILS maintenance, network operations, and workstation and Internet issues. Develops and implements long-range automation plans for the library within the parameters defined by the supervisory librarian.
    • Monitors fund allocations within assigned department(s).Supervises assigned staff. Assists chief librarian in overall management of the library.

    Minimum Qualifications:
    • A master's degree in library science, information services, or information management from an accredited college or university. Additionally, one (1) year of progressively responsible work experience is desired which showcases the ability to perform patron/public services, technical services, and/or library automation service functions.
    • Must be familiar with office software products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
    • Must have the ability to communicate orally and in writing.

    Highly Preferred Criteria:
    • Do you possess TWO years' experience, selection, acquisition, disposition of library materials?
    • Do you possess Two years' experience original and copy cataloging library materials?

    PCS Costs
    • Payment Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest.

    Pay-Band (NF or CY) Allowances and Differentials
    • This is a pay-banded position.
    • Sunday premium pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. If authorized, only regular (full-time, part-time, limited tenure and seasonal) employees may be paid Sunday premium pay. When authorized, Sunday premium will be paid at the rate of 25% of the basic rate for all hours of non-overtime, when any part of the scheduled tour of duty is performed on Sunday (to a maximum of 8 hours per Sunday). Sunday premium will be paid at the rate of 25% of the basic rate for all hours of non-overtime, when any part of the scheduled tour of duty is performed on Sunday (to a maximum of 8 hours per Sunday).
    • Night differential may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. When authorized, night differential will be paid at the rate of 10% basic rate for hours of non-overtime work performed between 1800-0600.
    Incentives and Bonuses
    • Incentives will not be paid
    Non-Foreign Overseas Allowances
    • Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility
