Job Responsibilities
- Assist with the development and promotion of specific plans for incorporating district, state, and national information literacy, media literacy and technology standards into day-to-day curricular and instructional activities.
- Collaborate with district library staff, teachers and other members of the school learning community to encourage students to become information literate, independent in their learning, efficient and effective with inquiry, and responsible in their use of information and information technology.
- Collaborate with library staff, teachers and other members of the school learning community to plan instructional activities, and to identify resources that support and enhance the curriculum.
- Promote the full range of information literacy and media literacy skills in such areas as reading programs, literature appreciation, information seeking skills, and the uses of information technology.
- Acquire, prepare and circulate instructional resources to be included in the library collection.
- Maintain a print collection that is diverse in format and content and supports the learning need of students and other members of the school learning community, taking into consideration the wide range of abilities, learning styles and needs of the library's patrons.
- Instruct in techniques of inquiry and critical evaluation.
- Actively pursue, and participate in, professional library and educational development opportunities
- Assist with identifying and assessing the school information literacy, media literacy and literacy needs.
- Collaborate with building media specialist to prepare an annual budget.
- Submit annual library report to building principal.
- Assist students to develop competency in listening, viewing, and reading skills.
- Attend building and district meetings as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the building administration or department head which may include, but are not limited to the following: monitor hallways, monitor school functions, and conduct parent teacher conferences.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Education; AND,
- State of Montana Educator license with appropriate endorsements in library media.
Preferred Qualifications
- Recent successful experience in secondary or elementary library media.
- Background and experience working with computers in a network environment.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to stand on feet for extended periods of time, stoop, bend, lift, and carry items up to 40 pounds.
